Boils are infections on the skin that are pus filled, red and bumpy. It is unlikely that we have not had even a single boil on our skin. They are basically the result of bacterial infections caused on hair follicles.Boils can be severe or chronic based on the symptoms presented. Chronic boils can be very unsightly and can cause a lot of embarrassment, apart from the itching and scar on the skin.
Though they are harmless when you see them on your body once in a while, they can be serious if you get it frequently and hence a physical examinations recommended in order to rule out any internal problems. Boils can be contagious in some cases and hence one has to be extremely wary about sharing personal items and other things with people who suffer from them.
A number of reasons can be the cause of appearance of boils. Stress, lack of nutrition, anxiety, unhealthy lifestyle and many others can be blamed when you have boils on your skin. There are a number of home remedies that you can look to if you are suffering from boils on a regular basis. However, if the problem persists, make sure that you visit a skin specialist in order to rule out any underlying problems.
A great antiseptic par excellence, turmeric is used for curing a number of skin ailments. Make a paste of turmeric and water and apply directly on the boil. Leave it on for a much time as you can. Turmeric destroys the bacteria and reduces the swelling and pain in the area.
Reapply the turmeric every few hours. Next day your boil will be considerably smaller in size. Continue application until your boil is completely gone. Turmeric application will also take care of the scars that have appeared as a result of the boil.
Cornmeal can dry the boil to oblivion before you even know about it. Make a paste of cornmeal and hot water and apply on the area. Let it dry. Reapply every 2-3 hours and allow it to dry. Continue this treatment until the boil dries slowly and falls off without much fuss.
A surprisingly new remedy! All you need to do is to boil an egg and remove the shell. Remove a piece of egg white from the boiled egg and put it on the boil. Seal with a cloth or a gauze. Egg whites which are hard boiled can drain the pus from the boil and remove them completely from your skin. Try it next time you have a boil. It does work!
Antibacterial onion will not allow any bacterial action on your skin if you are wise enough to use them. Cut a thick slice of onion and leave it on the area of the boil. Cover with a gauze.
Remove the slice and the cloth and replace with fresh ones whenever you feel the need. Once the onion has successfully burst the boil by acting as an irritant, you may wipe off the pus and place a fresh onion to work its antibacterial action on the skin.
If you want a non messy solution to your boil, take nutmegs and grind them to powder form. Mix it along with some hot water and drink it. The circulation of blood increases and blood swishes away all the bacteria from the skin affected by boils!
The good old garlic for treating boils! Again a thoroughly antibacterial compound, placing a sliced clove of garlic will mature the boils and burst them. Once the pus is removed, the boils will surely be on their way back to oblivion. A better treatment option would be to take the juice of both onion and garlic and apply on the area. This will have a dual effect on the boil, making it difficult to survive.
Another easy solution without the cumbersome task of external application. As soon as you wake up, take a bitter gourd and extract the juice from it. Add one tablespoon of lime juice and drink in one go before you tongue reacts to the bitterness. Do this every day until the boils start falling off your skin.
Before your boils even get a chance to get infected, start applying a mixture of milk cream, turmeric and vinegar. Your boils will soon surge up like a volcano and burst under pressure, leaving your skin clear of all infection. Continue applying turmeric for any bacteria that is remaining to be destroyed and also for the dark spots caused by the boils to vanish.
A popular home remedy for boils, betel leaves are slightly warmed and made soft. Apply a layer of castor oil on the betel leaves and leave it covered on the inflamed skin. You can replace the leaves with fresh one every few hours. Continue until the boil ruptures and your skin is cleared off the infection within a day.
Take some cumin seeds and make it into a paste with water. Apply directly on the boils. Leave it for as much time as you want. Reapply every time you feel the need. Leave it overnight as well. The next day, you will be surprised as to the results. Your boils are gone forever without even leaving a mark.
A very effective remedy as well for treating boils, margosa leaves can be placed directly on the boil to exert its superior action or can be boiled with water to form a decoction which you can take internally. Take half a litre of water and 2 tablespoons of margosa leaves and boil it until the quantity becomes a quarter. Consume this water or apply topically. Whichever way you use it, they are supremely beneficial.
