Many people find turmeric the best and easiest home remedy to treat carbuncles. Turmeric possesses anti-inflammatory properties and is an effective blood purifier. If you suspect a carbuncle is developing, add a teaspoon of turmeric to a glass of water and drink thrice a day.
You can also apply a paste of turmeric and fresh ginger with a little warm water and apply it over the carbuncle. This will reduce the inflammation and help kill the staph infection if applied regularly. You can also consume turmeric capsules that are available at health stores.
Hydrotherapy involves using warm compresses over the carbuncles. It helps to soothe the pain and effectively drains out the infection, healing it quickly. You can apply a warm, damp cloth over the carbuncle for about fifteen minutes three to four times a day. You must sterilize the washcloth after use with boiling water, if you plan to reuse it.
Apple cider vinegar is a strong astringent and contains antiseptic properties. It is also an affective home remedy to treat carbuncles effectively. Dip a piece of cotton gauze in some pure apple cider vinegar and place it over the affected area.
Secure it in place with the help of an adhesive tape. Change this bandage twice a day. This application will help heal the carbuncle quickly.
Onions are an effective natural cure for treating carbuncles. They contain powerful antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties which help to kill the staphylococcus aureus bacteria in the affected area and also provide relief from pain.
Just cut a thick slice of an onion and place it over the carbuncle. Tie it with a clean cloth. Keep changing every three hours. In three to four days, the carbuncle will come to a head and the pus will start draining.
Garlic contains allicin, which is a substance with antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is an easy and effective home remedy to treat carbuncles. Just make a paste of three fresh garlic cloves and apply over the affected area.
You can also add some olive oil to this paste and then apply to the skin. Cover the area with a sterile bandage. This helps to kill the microbes and reduce inflammation in the carbuncle. The warmth also helps to draw out the infection and allows drainage of the wound. Change this bandage twice every day.
Tea contains tannin which acts as an effective painkiller and helps reduce inflammation in the affected area. Dip a tea bag in warm water for a few minutes and then place it over the carbuncle.
Leave it on for at least ten minutes. The warmth helps to alleviate the pain. Doing this several times a day will help drain out the carbuncle, healing it quickly.
Tea tree oil possesses strong antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. It is a very useful home remedy to treat carbuncles. Firstly, just apply some tea tree oil on the affected area using a cotton ball.
Then, dab a cotton ball in some tea tree oil and place over the carbuncle. Secure it at this area with the help of an adhesive tape. Change it twice a day. In a few days, the carbuncle will drain out and heal completely.
Bread compress is a popular and simple home remedy which works wonder as well. You just need to soak a slice of bread in some warm milk and keep it over the carbuncle for around fifteen minutes. Doing this thrice a day, for around three to four days, will help to drain out the infection, helping it to heal quickly.
You can use a combination of vegetables to treat the carbuncle at home. Just slice up some tomatoes, raw onions, and outer leaves of a cabbage. Mash a few cloves of garlic as well.
Warm all these a little and place over the affected area. Keep changing every time they go cold. The idea is to keep the infected area warm so that the infection is drawn out to the surface and drains effectively. This will also help soothe the pain and inflammation due to carbuncle.
Black seed oil has been used as a traditional home remedy to treat skin infections, including carbuncles, naturally. It is a natural antioxidant and possesses strong anti-inflammatory properties.
Add half a teaspoon of black seed oil in some hot milk or tea and drink it twice a day. This helps to reduce the inflammation and pain in your body, helping heal the staph infection from its roots.
If you have a painful carbuncle, soaking in a warm Epsom salt bath will help relieve the pain and bring out the infection to the head. This is especially helpful when you have a carbuncle in places like your groin area or back, where you are unable to reach and apply any other home remedy.
Just add a handful of Epsom salt in a lukewarm bath and soak in it for around half an hour. Taken daily, this Epsom salt bath will enable the infection to drain out and heal quickly.
