Facial paralysis occurs due to the damage of the cranial nerve on one side of the face. The person suffers numbness and slight pain and has trouble expressing oneself as in smiling, frowning, and blinking the eyes, or even experience dryness of the eyes. This problem might get resolved on its own or could need some remedial measure depending on the intensity of the inflammation in the nerves.
A warm olive oil massage on the facial nerves will help in lessening the inflammation and pain in the face. Move the hands gently over the face to improve the blood circulation and stimulate the nerves.
Use the index fingers to move the tips of the lips inward and outward in the action of smiling. This exercises the facial nerves around the mouth and helps in activating them. Smile without showing your teeth for 10 seconds and repeat.
Raise your brows, take the help of your fingers if required. Repeat. Wring the nose and try flaring the nostrils while inhaling and exhaling air. Stretch the corners of the mouth inward and outward. Repeat all these movements till done comfortably.
Pout the lips and let it stay for a few seconds. Try touching the nose with your lips in this pose. Repeat 10 times at least once in a day.
Raise the eyebrows and let in be in that pose for a few seconds and then back. Repeat 10 -15 times.
This oil is very effective to treat nerve problems and can also reduce inflammation in the nerves. Massage the face with this oil regularly to treat the problem of facial paralysis. Alternatively, dip a cloth in castor oil and apply to the affected areas. Can repeat a few times in the day.
Anti-inflammatory and full of minerals, 3-4 cloves of garlic should be crushed and mixed with 1 tsp of olive oil and consumed every day to help in reducing inflammation and pain in the face and stimulate the healing process.

The inflammation in the muscles and nerves are reduced and the patients get relief in discomfort. Follow it up by a massage for better results.
