Epsom Salt is an inorganic salt containing sulphur, magnesium and oxygen and is scientifically known as Magnesium Sulphate. Its name comes from a spring in Epsom situated in Surrey, England and is a naturally found mineral compound. Epsom salts are largely used across the world for agricultural reasons and for gardening purposes, as it helps in correcting magnesium and sulphate deficiency in soil. But, epsom salt is also known to have various health related benefits too.
Epsom salt is made of magnesium and sulphate which is helpful in the minimizing activity of various enzymes in the human body. Lack of magnesium in the body leads to high blood pressure and hearth issues. Epsom salts are also helpful in improving blood circulation and protect the elasticity of arteries. Artery health indirectly means an improved heart condition where it prevents plague build-up and less risk of blood clots too. Thus intake of epsom salt in the diet helps in taking care of heart issues and improves the condition. Soaking in a bath consisting epsom salt helps in reducing this.

Migraine is usually found in people who suffer from a low level of magnesium in their body, and epsom salt, loaded with magnesium effectively helps in reducing migraine pain and shortens the period of the attack too.
Epsom salts, rich in magnesium helps improve oxygen utilization by the body and also improve the nutrient absorbtion by the body. Apart from this, it also gives energy to the body.
Autism is caused in children due to low levels of phenol sulfotransferase or PST, which can be checked by the usage of epsom salt in bath. The sulphates present in Epsom Salt helps in standardising the PST levels in the body, and thus reducing the chances of autism in kids.
Taking an epsom salt bath helps vasodilation which in turn spurs white blood cell production, who are commonly known as the defence mechanism of the body, against outside germs causing illness. Thus, epsom salt does help in strengthening the immune system.
