15 Health Benefits Of Papaya Leaf

We have always known the health benefits of the papaya fruit, but little is known about the immense medicinal benefits of the papaya leaves. They have high antioxidant properties due the presence of high phytonutrients present in the leaf. The best way to take advantage of the nutrients of the leaf is to prepare its tea though in some cultures the tender leaves are cooked and eaten. The tea is prepared by boiling a few leaves in water till the water is reduced to less than half. This water can be strained and stored or even consumed immediately.

The Health Benefits Of The Papaya Leaf Are:

Indigestion

Digestive problems like heartburn, upset stomach, and infections in the gut can be eased with the help of papaya leaves. The enzymes in these leaves can protect the gastrointestinal tract and help in the natural breakdown of proteins and carbs that help in relieving the acid formations in the gut. It reduces inflammation in the lining of the stomach and helps in destroying the bacteria causing ulcers, bowel diseases, and colitis. Drink papaya leaf tea 2-3 times a day during indigestion to get relief.

Dengue

The enzymes in papaya leaf tea can reduce the inflammation in the body caused by the dengue fever and it also helps in minimising the symptoms like fever, pains, flu, all associated with the dengue fever.

Wheat Gluten Intolerance

Gluten allergies can be lessened by papaya leaf as it is known to aid in digesting the gluten. It helps in breaking down the protein wheat gluten and helps it in its digestion.

Cancer

Papaya leaf has strong antioxidant properties that are known to protect the body against fatal diseases like cancers. Tumour growths in the case of breast cancers, prostate cancer, cervix cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer etc can be thwarted with the use of papaya leaf tea without leaving any side effects.

Typhoid

The compounds in this leaf control the spreading of fungi and worms in the body and the tannins present in the leaf do not allow the intestinal worms to attach themselves to the lining of the gut. It is, therefore, beneficial to drink a concoction of the papaya leaves for minimising the symptoms of typhoid fever.

Acne Remedy

For acne and pimples, make a paste of papaya leaves by blending it with some water and then apply this paste to the affected areas and let dry. Wash off after a while, and apply this paste regularly to get rid of the pimples totally.

Prostate

The problem of prostate enlargement can be benefitted with the help of papaya leaves. Drink papaya leaf tea regularly to ease the problems associated with the prostate.

Thrombocytopenia

Papaya leaves can increase the platelet count in a person and is beneficial in the problem of thrombocytopenia, in which the blood does not clot due to low platelet count. If the person is suffering from vitamin deficiencies or undergoing chemotherapy, which results in low platelet counts, papaya leaf is effective in minimising this problem.

Hair Care

The tea of the papaya leaf can be added to shampoos and hair oils to bring back a shine to dull lifeless hair, add volume, reduce hair fall and hair problems like baldness, thinning etc can be minimised with its regular use.

Laxative

The papaya leaf acts as a laxative and helps in easing the problem of constipation. It allows smooth expulsion of waste from the colon and rectifies gut problems to aid in better digestion. Drink papaya leaf tea for smooth  excretion.

Menstrual Pain

The juice of the leaves of papaya can be drunk several times a day to ease the spasms and pains associated with menstruation. Make papaya leaf tea by adding the leaf of the papaya, add some tamarind, and salt in a glass of water and bring to boil. Strain and drink this concoction for relief from menstrual discomfort.

Anti-Aging

The numerous amino acids present in the papaya leaf help in keeping the skin younger looking and healthy. It firms and tightens the skin and protects it from sagging and getting wrinkles and fine lines. The papaya leaf tea can be applied regularly to the skin to get effective results.

Papaya leaf tea can not only ease stomach disorders but also induce hunger and increase the appetite of people. Those who have lost appetite and the urge to eat due to some ailment and medication can take this tea to generate hunger.
