Ginger

Sugar

A piece or two of dark chocolate acts as a natural suppressor of coughs. The chocolate contains a theobromine compound which is superior to codeine when it comes to suppressing persistent coughs sans the side effects (drowsiness and constipation).

Flower Tea

Flower tea is an effective natural remedy as it serves two purposes – It helps in better temperature control as it induces sweating by dilating the blood vessels, while also stimulating the hypothalamus. Two to three cups a day should be good enough to control a fever.

Aloe Vera

The cooling properties of aloe vera help in soothing burns as and when they occur. It helps create a second skin to protect it from dust particles that float around in the air.

Peppermint

This natural herb helps with digestion as it combats the bacteria that cause bloating while also relaxing gastrointestinal muscles that help with digestion.

Vinegar

Vinegar with water helps to control bad foot odour as it fights the bacteria which causes the odour. Also, soaking your feet in tea is a great way to get rid of bacterium that thrives in moist environments.

Lemon

Lemons are rich in Vitamin C and are therefore a natural remedy to shorten the duration of a cold if consumed during the nascent stage. Soak a lemon in warm water to reap the full benefits of its bacteria-killing contents.

Lemon Juice

Do you suffer from bad breath? You can always gargle with a glass of acidic lemon juice to kill the bacteria that cause bad mouth odour. Unsweetened yoghurt is a great breath enhancer.

Olive Oil

Smoothen the texture of your lips with olive oil. The oil contains certain anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants which help soften the lips. Extra virgin oil when added to the skin can also prevent skin cancer according to research conducted.

Hydrotherapy

Alternating between cold and warm water can help soothe a stiff neck. This therapy will help improve the blood flow in your body. Always start with warm water and end with cold water.

Tennis Balls

If you happen to snore when on your back you can always put a tennis ball in a pocket and sew it on to the back of the top of your pyjama. The discomfort will cause you to sleep on your side.

Cherries

They help combat insomnia. Have a handful of cherries before heading to bed. They contain melatonin which helps regulate sleep patterns. Have a bath with warm water thereafter to relax the muscles.

Black Tea

It contains astringent compounds which help deflate the bags under your eyes. Dip it in warm water and then cool it in the fridge before compressing it on your closed eye.

Strawberries

You can remove coffee and wine stains from your teeth by brushing with a taste comprising of strawberry paste and a little baking soda.

Magnesium

Relaxing magnesium can be used to reduce headaches. Ensure that the supplement used contains around 200 mg of magnesium for better effect.

B-50 Supplement

Excessive alcohol can deplete certain vital vitamins in the body. This will ensure better alcohol metabolism.

Crampbark Tincture

Around 1 teaspoon of crampback tincture can reduce the pain caused by the worst of cramps. It is an effective muscle relaxant, providing relief from menstrual cramps.
