4 Diet Treatment For Tinnitus

Share

Tinnitus refers to a condition where a person constantly experiences buzzing sound in the ears. This noise can take place at regular intervals or it may occur continuously. Also, the noise can sometimes be high pitched and low pitched on other occasions.

A common myth is that tinnitus leads to loss of hearing, but studies have revealed that people experiencing tinnitus face no problem in hearing.

It is true that tinnitus does not lead to any serious condition. However, experiencing constant sounds in the ear can be quite irritating. Unfortunately, contrary to popular claims, there is no cure for tinnitus. However, if you are suffering from tinnitus, including certain foods in the diet plan can help you to reduce the symptoms associated with it. Learn more about these foods.

Best Diet Plan For Treatment Of Tinnitus

Bananas

Sometimes, excess fluid in the ears can cause tinnitus. In such a case, including bananas in your diet plan can be a good idea. This is because bananas are rich in potassium, which ensures proper flow of fluids in the body.

If you don’t like bananas, you can go for other potassium rich fruits that include apple or apricots. Other foods that contain high amounts of potassium include yogurt, salmon, white mushrooms and baked potato.

Meat/Fish

One study published in American Journal of Otolaryngology found that ringing in the ears is associated with deficiency of vitamin B12. So, if you are suffering from tinnitus, include foods that are rich in vitamin B12 can help you to alleviate the symptoms associated with tinnitus.

These foods can include chicken, eggs and beef. However, make sure that you don’t eat too much of these because high intake of animal protein can cause other problems. So, it is better to consume them in moderation.

Pineapple

Though researchers are not exactly sure, but few studies have shown that a link exists between ringing in the ears and inflammation. In such a case, including pineapple in your diet plan can be an effective way of reducing inflammation.

We are suggesting such a strategy because pineapple contains bromelain that is capable of reducing inflammation in the body. For best results, opt for fresh pineapples.

Cereals/Meat/Nuts

Occasionally lack of zinc in the diet can cause ringing in the ears. For this reason, it is crucial to include zinc rich foods in your eating plan.  Examples of such foods can include meat and shellfish. However, if you are a vegetarian, you can also go for nuts and seeds and cereals. For getting the maximum benefit from cereals, choose multi or whole grain cereals. Avoid those that are high in sugar.

It is true that including these foods in your diet plan can help you to control tinnitus. However, at the same time, you should avoid certain foods so that the situation is not aggravated. Such foods can include high fat foods such as chips, burgers, fried foods and desserts. Also, limit your intake of salt and avoid drinking alcohol as much as possible. Instead, opt for plain water, buttermilk or fresh fruit juices.
