For most part of the day your feet are covered with shoes and socks. This makes the feet moist and warm which is ideal for the survival and growth of fungus. So your feet fall prey to various kinds of fungal infections. You can have athletes foot where the ringwarm fungus infects the skin on your feet. You will have itching with burning and skin in the area may crack. The other kind of fungal infection of the foot is the nail fungus where the nail gets thick and discolored due to fungal attack.

Foot fungus mostly gives rise to a persistent foul smell. This can embarrass you in public places, at home or with a close-knit group of people. But you can treat foot fungus with antifungal ointments and medicines. However, you can opt for herbal remedies too. There are a lot of herbs that can defeat such fungae and cure foot fungus. Let us explore some of these herbs.

Aloe Vera

This plant is highly revered in the world of skin care. It is anti-bacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory in nature. Due to these properties it is used in preparation of various kinds of skin care products.

It is also useful for treating foot fungus. Apply some fresh aloe vera gel on the affected areas regularly. After a few days the itching and foul smell will come down. But along with this you should also wash your foot in hot water sparingly. This will heal the areas faster.

Oregano

This oil from oregano herb is said to have a profound antifungal nature. Even the vapour of oregano oil acts as an antifungal medicine. It has been seen that oregano oil damages the cell walls of fungae if the fungae are exposed to it for at least three hours.

So soak your feet in some oregano oil before going to bed and let it sit there overnight. Next morning, hopefully, the infection will be gone.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is another antifungal herbal oil that is used frequently to treat various fungal and bacterial infections. It has been seen that it can destroy fungae if they are exposed to the oil for over 24 hours.

So soak your feet in tea tree oil and keep some tea tree oil with you. Whenever the oil seems to have dried up soak the feet again. This will kill the foot fungus.

Clove Oil

Properties of clove oil have been studied, and it has been seen that it contains an essential oil named eugenol which is highly antifungal in nature. It is such a potent antifungal herb that it can kill some of the fungae that are resistant to even some prescription antifungal medicines.

So dilute some clove oil with olive oil, an anti-inflammatory oil and soak your feet in the mixture. Foot fungus will heal within a few days.

Burdock Root

Burdock root has been used since a long time for treatment of various kinds of skin problems. It’s antifungal nature is helpful in treating fungal infections.

Soak some chopped burdock root in distilled water overnight, take out the clear liquid in the morning and soak your feet in it. Do this regularly and foot fungus will be cured.
