5 Easy Home Remedies For Peeling Skin

Share

Our skin is made up of two major layers namely the epidermis which is the top most layer and the dermis which is situated below the epidermis. Peeling of skin occurs at the epidermis level. Our skin is replaced by a new layer every 28 days but due to certain conditions like over exposure to UV or sun’s rays, toxic chemicals and weather conditions, our skin can peel faster than usual. Sun burns are the main cause for peeling skin syndrome and that challenges the hydration level of your skin.

Other causes for peeling of skin could be allergies, rashes, certain skin infections, and eczema. Peeling skin syndrome can be accompanied by other symptoms such as weight loss, fatigue, fever and loss in diet. These symptoms could be related or non-related but peeling skin is usually a symptom of certain diseases. We can control the peeling up to a certain level but you have to go beyond that and treat the main cause first. Here are some home remedies to prevent excessive peeling of skin:

5 Home Remedies For Peeling Skin

Cucumber

Cucumber is known to be very effective in cases of sun burns. It is highly refreshing and cooling in nature and hence helps the skin to calm down. Take some cucumber juice and apply it on the areas that are affected.

Mostly cucumber is used for facial skin. You could also apply a cucumber face pack daily if you are exposed to the sun for long periods in the day.

Aloe Vera

Aloe juice or aloe vera creams are very nourishing. It can be used throughout the year for skin burns or to treat peeling. You could obtain an aloe cream from your local pharmacy and it is relatively inexpensive.

You could apply the cream as a moisturizing lotion when you step outside your home. It can be used for daily application as well.

Mint Juice

Fresh mint juice can be applied on the areas where peeling is the most. Mint extracts are also very soothing and refreshing for the skin. You could use mint in conditions like dermatitis and eczema as well.

Mint can be used for a variety of skin conditions and not just to treat peeling. You could use a mint extract moisturizer every day. It can be applied any number of times in a day and it doesn’t have any side effects.

Healthy Diet

With respect to diets, it is very essential to keep taking your vitamins. A, B and C vitamins are important for healthy skin.  You have to consume milk, meat and eggs for vitamin A, whole grains and cheese for vitamin B and citrus fruits and juices for vitamin C.

You can also use vitamin supplements if needed. In addition to vitamins, you must also remember to consume other nutritious food which is rich in fiber. You must avoid smoking and drinking alcohol as these increase dehyrdation in the body.

Increase Fluid Intake

Most sun burns and peeling happen if the skin is dehydrated. Make sure you are having 8 to 9 glasses of water every day and more if you are exposed to the sun constantly.

You could try fresh fruit juices or vegetables juices as well. Soups also serve to help in increasing the fluid content in the body. Remember to always maintain the fluid intake.
