5 Easy Home Remedies For Winter Ailments

Share

Winter ailments refer to a whole host of diseases which affect the human body during the winter season. Each time there is a change of season, our body tends to work harder to adjust to it. At that time, our body’s immune response gets lower due to various factors. When the body’s immunity is lower, the infectious agents strike and cause diseases. The common ailments affecting people during winters are cold, cough, fever, and chest congestion, dry and itchy skin and seasonal allergies.

People who suffer from asthma or arthritis tend to feel worse because their symptoms tend to aggravate. The best way is to understand what your body demands and where it falls short during the winter season. Here are some home remedies that will help you control the infections this winter:

Home Remedies For Winter Ailments

Boost Your Immunity

Due to lack of an immune response, people tend to develop many diseases. Even a recurring cold will mean that your immunity is low. Load your body with some vitamin C in natural forms.

Have room temperature lime water and consume lots of fresh citrus fruits and juices. Eat fresh fruits and stick to warm foods. Keep away from colas or caffeine which causes your immunity to go further down. You can have hot chocolate instead of hot coffee.

Put The Heat Up

Be prepared for the temperature drop and make sure your heater is up and running. Keep warm blankets and sweaters handy so you can use them every time you step outside your house. Most of the diseases of the winter are attracted because your body fails to maintain its core temperature.

Due to high temperature, bacteria and viruses are killed and due to the lack of optimum core temperature, you might be susceptible to many infections.

Vitamin D

During winters it is hard to find the sun’s vitamin but if you go out during the peak of the afternoon, you might get some good sunlight. You could take walks at that time instead of mornings or evenings.

Go out with your friends and get some company and some vitamin D to keep your body healthy. It helps to relieve asthmatic and arthritic issues as well.

Keep Yourself Hydrated

Chapped lips, scaly and dry skin are all an indication of dehydration. People don’t sweat much during winters so they don’t feel the need to consume water, which makes them dehydrated.

Due to dehydration, their skin and lips suffer and it may cause skin eruptions or fungal infections of the skin due to excessive dryness. Drink lots of water during the day to keep yourself free from dehydration.

Eat Healthy

It is important to maintain your nutrition no matter which season it is. If you are constantly falling prey to winter ailments, a good nutrition will help you heal faster and keep most infections away.

Have foods that will keep your strong and energetic throughout the day. Include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. You can also have soups before your meals.
