Red eyelids can be caused by blepharitis where your eyelids become inflamed and turn red. There may be several precipitating factors behind this such as infection or skin abnormality. Whatever be the reason behind, the margins of eyelids are the most affected part. It is not a chronic condition and can be treated.

However, it is very discomforting. It can interfere with your vision. Along with the red eyelids you will have an irritation and a burning sensation in the eyes, and itchy eyelids. The treatment for red eyelids depends on the cause of it.

Tea

Both green tea and black tea have been found to work effectively against red eyelids. Both are helpful in soothing irritated eyelids. Caffeine in tea can constrict blood vessels and that may lead to reduced swelling. Chamomile tea contains compounds that can subjugate the irritants and reduce swelling.

The best way to reap the benefit of tea is to use tea bags. Steep two tea bags in warm water for a maximum of 5 minutes when the water starts to take a color. Now take the bags out, let them cool and place them on the eyelids. Keep it there for at least 15 minutes. You can do this two to three times a day. You will feel relieved within a day.

Red Clover

This is a widely used herb that has exhibited therapeutic benefits in red eyelids. It has a strong anti-inflammatory nature, and it can pacify the agitated eyelids to a great extent. It can also reduce the redness of the eyelids and pain.

Calendula

Calendula gel is anti-inflammatory in nature, and it can sooth itchy eyelids. For benefit you can rub some calendula cream on the eyelids. This will give you some relief. You can get calendula gel in the local pharmacy store.

Comfrey

This herb has been used traditionally to treat blepharitis. It has been seen that an ointment made from comfrey can give relief from the itching and burning of blepharitis. You can get comfrey ointment in the local pharmacy.

Turmeric

This herb has been researched throughout the world, and it has been seen that it has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It can reduce the redness of the eyelids to a considerable extent.

This herb is also anti-inflammatory in nature and can reduce the intensity of redness in the eyelids to a considerable extent. It contains antioxidants which have the ability to boost your immune system to fight the infection better.

Cat’s claw extract is available in local drug store. You can take 500 gm of this extract thrice a day to fight red eyelids.
