Possessing shiny ebony black hair is a matter of pride for every woman as it contributes a lot to her overall appearance and beauty. Early white streaks on your head can be simply shocking robbing off your mental peace. A lot of factors play a part in premature hair graying, genetic factor being the most important of them. Still one cannot simply watch and allow the remaining strands lose their sheen and color. Graying of hair starts when our hair follicles fail to create sufficient melanin pigment and that can arise from a number of causes. Before adopting the remedies, you should think seriously about the root cause and apply the remedy accordingly. Graying of hair after 35-40 is not unnatural. This again depends on the race and other demographic factors. But if white strands start showing up in early twenties or in mid-teens, you need to give special attention. Firstly, check your health conditions whether you are suffering from Vitamin B deficiency or thyroid problems or not. You need to modify your lifestyle as well making a few healthy choices.
The following are the six home remedies that can restore the natural hair color promoting its healthy growth as well.
Production of hydrogen peroxide at the base of hair follicles often results in bleaching of hair turning it into white strands. Onion juice promotes the production of catalase, a compound that reduces the effect of hydrogen peroxide and helps in maintaining the normal pigmentation of hair. Applying onion juice is a time tested home remedy to prevent premature hair graying. Massage enough onion juice on your scalp and leave it for half an hour. Wash your hair with cold water. Try this treatment daily for a few weeks.
We cannot think of proper hair treatment without the use of any oil. Application of coconut oil mixed with lime juice can reduce premature whitening of hair strands. Squeeze out the juice from one big sized lemon and mix it with coconut oil and massage generously over your scalp and hair strands. Lime juice enriched in Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant that prevents bleaching of the natural hair color and keeps your hair shiny and healthy for a long time.
This is another Vitamin C enriched fruit that can be used to treat this hair problem. Drinking Gooseberry juice daily keeps you healthy, which in turn is good for healthy hair growth. You can apply Indian Gooseberry juice mixed with lime juice and coconut oil over your hair. Else you can boil dried gooseberry in coconut oil and apply the cooled mixture on your scalp. Keep it overnight and wash your hair with a mild shampoo next morning.
Leaves from the Curry Plant (widely found in India and Sri Lanka) are very useful in checking premature hair graying. Normally, hair tonic prepared by mixing coconut oil and curry leaves promotes healthy hair growth enhancing the production of melanin pigment. Boil a handful of curry leaves and coconut oil in a bowl till the leaves turn black in color. Cool and strain the mixture. Apply the strained mixture on your scalp and keep it overnight. Next day, wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
Black sesame seeds promote melanin production to a great extent. Moreover, the presence of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron and copper in black sesame seeds helps in healthy hair growth preserving its natural black color for a long time. Applying sesame oil on the scalp is another great home remedy to prevent premature hair graying.
Melanin production largely depends on your daily protein intake. Eggs, meat and seafood are very good sources of protein that enhance melanin production. Seafood like fish, oysters and crab are rich in Iodine and copper that promotes hair pigmentation.
