Insect bites and stings can be countered by over the counter medicines. But there are some elements at home which are also powerful fighters against such bites and stings. You can use these home remedies for insect bites and stings to recover. Let us discuss some of these.

Home Remedies For Insect Bites And Stings

Baking Soda

Most of the insects pour some kind of acidic element into your skin when they bite. This creates the itching and burning sensation. You have to use some alkaline agent to counter this acid. Baking soda is alkaline in nature. So you can use baking soda at ease to neutralize the acid and get relief from the itch.

Over and above this baking soda has a soothing effect on the skin, and it is anti-inflammatory in nature. So all these properties of baking soda can be really helpful in bringing your skin back to normalcy. Make a paste of baking soda in water and apply it straight on and around the sting site. With regular application the stinging sensation will come down within a few days.

Honey

Honey is a great antibiotic and anti-inflammatory natural substance. It also has a soothing effect on the skin. So you can use honey with elan to treat insect bites and stings. Just apply some plain honey on the site of bite two to three times a day.

Ice

For immediate relief you can use ice. Ice can constrict the local blood vessels. This will bring down the flow of blood and along with it the sensation of itch and burn.

So as and when you are stung take out some ice from the refrigerator, and apply it directly on the area of insect bite. After about 15 to 20 minutes you will get some relief from the itch.

Banana Peel

It has been seen that the inside of banana peel can work wonders in healing insect bites and stings. It can neutralize the sting and relief the itch. For this peel one banana and rub the affected area slightly with the inside of the peel. You will get relief.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera gel is soothing for your skin. It is also anti-inflammatory in nature. You can get a big relief from the sting. So apply some fresh aloe vera gel directly on the site twice or thrice a day. This will bring down the irritation.

Running Water

If you are stung by a bee you should try to remove the sting with a forecep. Now hold the area below a tap and let running water wash away the venom. Cold water will e even better. This will cool down the irritation to a considerable extent.
