Snoring is a sound that a person makes through his nose or mouth during sleeping. According to a survey, around 45% of adults snore in this world. A person who snores can be the brunt of jokes during the family gathering. Many marriages are on stakes due to spouse snoring. Their bedrooms got separated due to this condition. A person who is accompanying you in a bedroom is unable to sleep because of the snoring sound. Snoring is a serious issue that needs to be treated immediately for a healthy life and relationship.
Try to avoid lying on your back, if you want to get rid of snoring. Lying straight on your back makes the tongue and palate collapse on the back of the throat. This causes a vibrating sound called snoring during sleep. Lying sideways will help in preventing such condition. Using a body pillow can make a dramatic difference. Body pillow is a full length pillow that provides an easy fix and support to the body. It helps in providing a proper side posture during sleep through which snoring can be ignored. You can also recline your bed upward with the head extended, straight and up. This may open the nasal passage and air can pass in and out without causing snoring. But, this position may cause back pain.
This treatment is not helpful for everyone. The condition of snoring has also been seen in thin people. Losing weight will only work if you were thin and never used to snore. Now, if you have gained weight and started snoring, then you need to lose the weight. Gaining weight around the neck squeezes the inner diameter of the throat, which collapse of throat during sleep. This results in producing triggering snoring sound.
It has been scientifically proven that people who normally don’t snore, starts snoring after drinking alcohol. Sedative drugs and alcohol lowers the resting tone of the muscles which are situated at the back of the throat. This condition increases the chances of snoring. If you really want to avoid snoring during sleep, try to avoid consuming alcohol four to five hours before sleep.
It is really important to avoid poor sleep habit or also known as hygiene. Poor sleep habit has the same effect similar to that of consuming alcohol. Working late night, over tired, unhygienic dressed up for bed are all bad sleeping habits. Sleeping after long hard tiring day makes the throat muscles floppier that creates snoring.
Keeping the nasal passages open may help, if the snoring starts during sleep. It allows the air to pass in and out slowly. If the nasal chamber is narrowed and clogged due to cold or other condition, the air through the nose will pass fast causing snoring. In addition to avoid such condition use a nasal spray to unclogged the nose, so that air can pass easily and smoothly.
Drink around an average of 9 to 10 glasses of water every day. In between keep drinking plenty of fluids as well. If you are dehydrated the soft palate and the secretion of nose becomes stickier. This condition may cause snoring. A research says that men should drink 16 glass of water and women should consume 11 glasses of water in a day.
