Chafing is a skin problem which is an irritation caused due to continuous friction. It generally happens in the area of the inner thighs, armpits, groins, buttocks and sometimes in the nipples too. At times it is very painful, especially in the area of the inner thighs

1. Oatmeal

One can prepare an ointment at home to get relief from chafing. Take some oatmeal, and mix it with olive oil. Mix it well till a good paste is formed.

Apply this paste to the affected area and keep it there for 30 minutes. Do this daily, twice a day if possible. Within a few days you will get relief from chafing.

2. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is known for many medicinal properties. To treat chafing take Aloe Vera gel and apply to the affected area. It almost starts healing instantly, giving relief from the itching and burning sensation.

Leave it there for an hour and then wash it clean. Remember to dry well after washing. It also helps remove the redness, and in a few days heals it completely. Apply the gel twice a day for quicker healing.

3. Keep Dry

The main cause of chafing is wetness of the skin. The best way to avoid chafing is by keeping the most vulnerable places as dry as possible. Use talcum powder to keep dry and wear cotton clothes.

Remember to dry yourself thoroughly after a bath or when you use the swimming pool. When the skin in sensitive areas remains dry, chances of chafing are greatly reduced, and the existent chafing also cures fast.

4. Coconut Oil And Ghee

Take some basil leaves and extract some juice from it. Taking some coconut oil in a small bowl and mix this along with the basil juice. Apply this mixture to the affected area in the night before you go to bed. The properties of the coconut and basil heal the chafing and also help in reducing the inflammation.

Ghee also has a good amount of healing and curing properties. Ghee also has moisturizing properties, and is very good in the condition of chafing. Apply ghee to the affected area, atleast twice a day. The properties in the ghee heal and repair the damaged cells of the skin. It makes the skin smooth and soft again.
