7 Best Home Remedies For Ringworm

Ringworm infection affects the outer layer of the skin and is commonly seen in children even though adults are also susceptible to it. This is a fungal disease characterized by oval or round patches with raised scaly and pink rings.

Scratching the infected patches result in spreading of the infection as the causative agent gets transmitted through the finger nails. Interpersonal spread also happens through physical contact.  If the ringworm infection is left untreated, it may become chronic and will even affect the scalp, hair roots and hair.

Raw Papaya

Slices of raw papaya are effective remedy for ringworm infection. Hence, rub the papaya slices over the infected patches thrice daily.While doing so your skin may get irritated, however, don’t be concerned about this as it is quite normal. Alternatively you can also apply a paste made out of dried papaya seeds over the infected area.

Herbal Tea

Take lemon grass tea thrice daily and while drinking the tea, keep the used tea bag on the affected area as this helps to get rid of the ringworm quickly. Chamomile tea can also be taken thrice daily to get rid of this infection. Similarly prepare ginger tea using two ounces of fresh ginger roots in eight ounces of water.

Allow the tea to boil at low heat for twenty minutes and this is done to extract the anti-fungal components present in ginger. For faster recovery drink ginger tea thrice a day and apply a cotton compress soaked in ginger tea on the infected area for five minutes thrice daily.

Turmeric

Turmeric is found to have anti-fungal properties and raw juice extracted from turmeric rhizomes if applied on the infected areas helps to get rid of the infection.In order to hasten the removal of infection, consume one teaspoon of fresh turmeric juice mixed with one teaspoon of honey internally.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is widely known for its healing power. Apply coconut oil daily on the affected area and this helps to provide immediate relief from the skin irritations and infection.Moreover, coconut oil helps to keep the skin soft and smooth by softening the scaly and dry infected skin.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera extract can be applied on the infected skin, which makes the skin smooth, healthy and remove the disease causing fungus from the skin.

Mustard seeds

Make a paste of mustard seeds and spread this paste on the ringworm infected areas. However, before the application of the paste, wash the area thoroughly with hot water and pat dry.

Raw Vegetable Juices

Vegetable juice extracted from carrot and spinach is ideal for ringworm infection. Mix 300 ml of carrot juice with 200 ml of spinach juice and drink this mixture daily to get rid of the fungus from your body.

Juice extracted from holy basil leaves, cassia leaves paste or juice, mudpack or sunbathing are all natural cures for ringworm infection. An all fruit diet for five days followed by a well-balanced diet consisting of whole grain, steamed vegetables, milk and curd is also beneficial for curing ringworm infection.
