1. Lemon

Wash your hands with Luke warm water and soak your hands in a cup of fresh lemon juice for about 10 to 15 minutes. Use a soft cloth or brush to gently scrub your nails later. Rinse your hands once again and if needed apply a few drops of moisturizing lotion to your hands and fingers. Repeat this procedure twice a day until you notice visible changes to your nails. Remember that the yellow stains do not go immediately and it can be few weeks before you notice the whitening.

2. Baking Soda

Baking Soda is another medium that is good in bleaching properties and can be used for removing the yellow stains from your nail. Mix two table spoon of baking soda and one tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide (remember to use a solution only with 3% hydrogen peroxide). Use a cotton swab to gently apply this mixture on your nails. Leave it aside for five minutes and rinse well in warm water. In case you do not want to use hydrogen peroxide, you can alternate it with olive oil. Add half a tea spoon of olive oil to the baking soda. For better results add a tea spoon of lemon juice to this mixture and mix well. Apply this to your finger nails and after five minutes rinse well using warm water. You can use this procedure every two weeks.

3. Tooth Paste

Your whitening tooth paste can work wonders for your yellow nails too. Choose a tooth paste that has good whitening agents in them. Apply this directly to your nails and gently spread them using a soft tooth brush. After five to ten minutes. Rinse with warm water and gently scrub your nails while rinsing using a tooth brush. Add a coat of moisturizing lotion later if needed. This is one of the easiest procedures and can be very beneficial in controlling yellow nails. The procedure can be repeated twice a week for better results.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is naturally enriched with anti fungal properties and can be very beneficial in controlling the yellow stains of your nails. Fungal infections is one of the common reason for your nails to get discolored and the malic acid and acetic acid present in apple cider vinegar can greatly help in reducing the yellow blemishes. They are also very beneficial in strengthening your nails. Mix half a cup of apple cider vinegar to a bow of warm water. Dip your hands into this solution for about 15 minutes. Later rinse your hand using cold water and dry your nails using a soft cloth. If needed apply a mild moisturizing lotion to your nails and fingers to retain he moisture. The procedure can be done daily and you can notice a reduction in the discoloration after a few weeks.

5. Tea Tree Oil

This is one of the other methods to try if your discoloration is because of a fungal infection. Tea tree oil is loaded with anti fungicide and antimicrobial properties. You can apply it directly to your nails using a cotton swab. After a few minutes, rinse well in warm water. This procedure can be done daily and can be used for maintaining the robustness of your nail to a great extent.

Listerine is one more effective product that can be used for controlling the yellow stains of your nail. Listerine has ample quantities of methanol and methyl salicylate. Further it has eucalyptol that can be used as a good anti fungal agent. Take a cotton swab and dip into the Listerine solution. Then gently put this layer on our skin. For extreme cases you can put Listerine in a cup and dip your finger nails into it. After 20 minutes rinse your nails in cold water and pat it dry. Repeat this procedure once in a week or once in ten days. Do not try this daily as the nails around your skin can turn greenish with regular usage. Use this method for a few months till you notice visible changes to your nails. For added results you can add few tea spoons of vinegar to the Listerine solution and soak you nails in them.

7. Orange Peel

Oranges are loaded with Vitamin C and can be beneficial in removing the yellow stains of your nails. Grind dried out orange peels and water to make a thick paste. Apply this paste to your nails and leave aside for about 15 minutes. Rinse well in warm water and use a soft brush to remove the excess paste lingering on your nails. You can use this procedure daily for better results. Alternatively, you can also take out fresh orange peels and rub your finger nails in them for about two to three minutes. Rinse your nails once done. Use this procedure daily for getting the visible results within a few weeks.
