Belly button infections are a pretty common problem and can affect just anyone. The belly button area is usually moist, warm and dark, which makes it a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus, if proper care is not taken. Also, soap residue and excessive sweating can cause a belly button infection. People affected by these bacterial or yeast infections usually have inflammation, itching and pain in the belly button area; and also might have pus formation.
Neem, also known as the Indian Lilac is known for its medicinal properties. It is a natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent which wards off any viral infections and kills the bacteria and fungus causing all discomfort. Also, it soothes the skin and reduces the pain and inflammation quickly. All you need to do is, take some neem oil and apply it directly on the affected area, with the help of cotton. Repeat this process several times a day for best results.
Saline water not only works like a disinfectant, but also absorbs the excess moisture from the skin and increases the blood flow to the affected area. All this helps in fighting and killing the bacteria attacking the belly button area. Simply, add some salt to hot water and let it cool down a little. Wash the affected area with this solution thoroughly, and later pat dry the skin. Do this 3-4 times in a day for effective results and quicker recovery.
Use rubbing alcohol for this purpose. It has anti-septic properties which help in curbing the bacterial and fungal infection, so that it doesn’t spread. Also, it reduces the inflammation and swelling caused by the infection and gets rid of itching rapidly. The process is very simple, just apply some alcohol on the affected area, with the help of cotton. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day and feel the difference in just one day.
Warm compress helps in relieving you of the discomfort and pain caused by bacterial infections. The heat also increases the blood flow to the area, reducing inflammation and itching. Apart from this, it also helps in the healing process to some extent. All you need to do is, apply a warm compress to the affected area every few hours. Alternatively, you can also take a hot shower for relief, but make sure to dry yourself thoroughly, afterwards.
White vinegar not only reduces inflammation and pain, but also gets rid of the pus from the infection. It is rich in acidic properties which kill the bacteria or fungus and prevent the infection from spreading. Just mix white vinegar and water in a 1:3 ratio and apply this solution directly onto the affected area with a cotton ball. Let it stay on for about 20 minutes and rinse off with water, afterwards. Make sure to dry the area thoroughly after washing. Do this 2-3 times in a day for positive results.
Coconut oil has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, which helps in curbing the growth of bacteria and fungus and inhibit the infection from spreading. Also, the anti-inflammatory properties in coconut help in reducing the pain, swelling and itching sensation, thereby providing relief from the discomfort. All you need to do is, apply coconut oil on the affected area several times a day. Make sure to clean the area properly, before applying coconut oil.
Tea tree oil is another effective remedy for belly button infection because of its anti-bacterial and anti-septic properties. It fights the bacteria and fungus and also helps in reducing redness and pain from the skin. Just mix some tea tree oil with olive oil to dilute it a little and apply this mixture on the affected area for about 15 minutes. Wipe off the excess oil and let the rest of it stay on. Repeat this process 3-4 times in a day for quick relief and recovery.
Aloe vera has numerous benefits and is known for its medicinal properties. It is widely used for a number of skin ailments and is very effective in treating belly button infections too. Also, it soothes the inflamed skin, providing you relief from the discomfort. All you need to do is, apply aloe vera gel onto the affected area and let it stay on for about 20-25 minutes. Rinse off with water and dry the area thoroughly to avoid any moisture from being left behind. Repeat this process several times a day for quick relief.
