Basically the term ulcer is used to define an open sore or erosion, which takes place in the surface of any tissue or organ of the body. Basically ulcers can happen in the tummy area or the oesophagus and duodenum. In such cases they are called peptic ulcers and are very common. Some of the basic causes of this ulcer include a germ that is spiral-shaped and is called Helicobacter pylori or H. pylori.
However, there are various other causes of the same, which include poor eating habits, stress, hectic lifestyles, etc. Hence for preventing and treating these ulcers at home you need to blend some natural ingredients with lifestyle changes.
One of the most successful remedies for treating ulcers would be consuming the juice of aloe vera or apply the same on the affected areas, in case of mouth ulcers. Basically aloe has natural antibacterial properties that not only prevents and heals the wound, but also helps it recuperate faster. Natural or organic juice of the aloe plant is the best for the same.
Another antibacterial agent found easily in most homes would be ginger. You need to make ginger tea with some honey, which is another soothing agent that boosts immunity too. The ginger tea should be had without milk, as lactose is one of the worst foods you can consume to heal ulcers. You can also consume ginger juice with some raw turmeric juice but in case of mouth ulcers, avoid the same. It works best for stomach ulcers.
If you want to avoid topical medications then application of honey on the ulcer is a good way to heal it. Honey coats the wound while its antibacterial properties kills the Helicobacter pylori. You can also costume it with some cold water to soothe stomach ulcers.
Baking soda can be applied on the mouth ulcer mixed with some water. It balances acidity and helps to combat the infection. You can also have one teaspoon of the baking soda with some water to ease the acidity imbalance in the stomach and sooth ulcers.
One of the most common reasons for getting frequent ulcers in the stomach or the mouth is too much of spicy and fried foods. What happens is that these spicy food hinder the secretion of natural digestive juices in the stomach. This results in imbalance and acidity, which in turn leads to ulcers in both stomach and mouth. Reduce intake of the same to see beneficial results.
Another cause of frequent ulcers is the lack of a good and healthy diet, which also means deficiency of vitamins. Basically most doctors do suggest a multi-vitamin capsule to be taken along with the regular medication to heal ulcers and soothe them. However, if you want to avoid the same in the long run, you can consume more of fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meats to get a healthy share of vitamins.
It has been seen that exercises, especially yoga and walking helps in neutralising the secretion of digestive juices. As the body is able to digest food better, the imbalance of acidity stops and this in turn prevents ulcers from occurring in the first place.
Mental stress and anxiety are primary causes of ulcers. As a rule of thumb, try to meditate a few minutes everyday. Change your lifestyle by indulging in activities that help you to de-stress like going out with friends or playing with your pet or simply relaxing for a while. This helps you to become stress free, thus in turn helping your body function better and combat ulcer.
