What does it mean to file the nail 'upward'?? Sorry, but I am not sure what or how to do this...
I had no idea what they were talking about either. But, here's the solution that will solve your pain. This article, once I figured it out, saved my sanity. Well, ok, let's not go too far...
Soak your toe in hot/warm water. I used epsom salt, but it's really not necessary. Soak it until you think your skin has become soft. Maybe 10-15 minutes. The nail will also become soft. Take a "file" like the metal nail file on your nail clippers, or anything flat and hard, maybe even one side of a tweezers (I have a nail kit with some really useful and smooth tools), and lift your nail upwards at the spot that the ingrown toenail is giving you trouble. Lift it straight up, don't go digging around, unless you have to. I lifted mine up and the skin flapped down under the nail. The ingrown nail was now laying over the skin as it should be. It was a little painful getting to that point, but instantly, the pain will disappear at this point. Take your clippers and cut straight through. It's opposite of the cut you normally make on your toe. Usually you cut sideways, but this is straight in. And you're done. At this point, feel free to let that little sucker know how you feel about it and then discard it. You'll never have a problem figuring out how to get rid of these things for the rest of your life. You can cut it off before it becomes unbearable. Be sure to invest in a nail/pedicure kit. Lots of nice tools in there to do your own procedure at home. Good luck!
Seriously, go to a podiatrist and have them fix it. It is much safer and more effective than trying these suggestions that will only give you temporary relief. It's a fast procedure they do in the office and then there's aftercare for about 5-7 days to prevent infection. That's it, then cut your nails properly to avoid it happening again. My husband just had this done on both "big" toes and has relief after 25 years!
Not true. These have worked for me.
Wouldn't a product like Neet dissolve the toenail? I mean if it is applied a little at a time?
If i have nail's pain just beacuse of wearing shoes so what should i do to get rid off this....??
soak your feet in really warm-hot water with epsome salt for 10 minutes 3-5 times a day. Stop wearing poorly fitting shoes.
Do not trust this article! Salt & Epsome salt are completely different. Epsome salt is magnesium sulfate.
Not true. I used this article to finally figure out how to get rid of my pain. See my post below.
