Diet
Bloating is mainly caused by poor dietary habits and insufficient fiber. Consumption of processed meats, starches and sugars lead to improper digestion and the formation of malodorous gas which causes bloating. It is important to cut down on animal food and include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Eat breads made out of whole grain flour instead of refined flours. Also drink ten glasses of water everyday to keep the bowel clean and well flushed.
Fennel or Saunf
Fennel is widely used in India not only for cooking purposes but also as a mouth refresher after every meal. The purpose behind this practice can also be to aid digestion as well as keep the breath fresh and fragrant.
Take a teaspoon of fennel seeds and pound them coarsely. Boil half a liter of water and add the fennel to it. Simmer on a low heat for a couple of minutes then turn off the gas. Drink cupfuls of this tea several times during the day till you have finished all of it.
Ajwain
Ajwain brings instant relief in the discomfort caused by bloating. It is full of powerful compounds which purify the blood, relax the muscles in the digestive tract and help in the release of the trapped gas. Put a griddle on the fire and when it is hot, drop a teaspoon of ajwain onto it.
Roast the seeds till they sputter. Remove them from the griddle onto a wooden board and crush them finely with a rolling pin. Mix a pinch of kala namak and swallow the mixture with some water.
