Here are some poses that especially fix hormonal imbalance in the body. Practice them even if you don’t have this problem as they will help you to stay away from hormonal imbalance and its related diseases.
Headstand is a very effective pose that calms down the mind and increase blood flow to the pituitary gland. Therefore it is very good for thyroid, heart and lungs. But initially practice this pose under the guidance of a yoga teacher as you might face problem in balancing the body.
To carry out the pose, place your arms in a triangular form on the ground, press the closed fist on the floor and lift your body upwards placing the head between the fists. Stretch and erect the whole body towards the sky while maintaining the body weight. Take wall support for balance. Then slowly bring down the legs on the ground and relax at savasana i.e. simply lie down on your back. Remain in savasana for few seconds until the blood flow is back to normal.
Commonly known as cross leg pose, sukhasana acts on adrenal gland and fix hormonal imbalance in the body. For this pose, sit erect with cross leg. Place your palm on the leg facing upward. Inhale and lift your neck and spine upward.
Exhale and broaden your shoulder. Continue to breathe in this way for 30 seconds and notice the breathe rhythm. Repeat it for 3 to 4 times for 10 minutes.
Anjali mudra is the pose that is usually performed while offering prayer. In Asia people traditionally take this pose to offer prayers and may not know its health benefits. It acts on pineal and pituitary glands and prevent hormonal imbalance. Start by sitting cross leg with your hands in ‘Namaste’ form.
Breathe and press the palms together and place it towards the chest. Fingers pointing upward and thumb resting on the sternum. Interesting thing about this yoga pose is that if you perform your daily payer then you don’t need to perform the pose separately. Do it along your daily prayer and live a healthy life.
This pose is commonly known as seated forward bending pose. This yoga posture targets pancreas, kidney, thyroid, and thymus. It also helps to keep the blood sugar level in control.
To perform this pose, sit straight with your legs extended and stretched. Inhale and erect your spine towards the ceiling and exhale while bending forward. Bring your head close to the feet as much as possible. Then release the pose by lifting the head to normal position.
