Share

Vitamin A is a cluster or group of unsaturated hydrocarbons like retinal, retinol, retinoic acid and many more. Vitamin A has multiple functions which include, improving vision, maintaining a good immune system and overall growth and development. Other than these, Vitamin A also plays a very important role in dermatology.

Vitamin A is effectively used for skincare widely, all over the world. Vitamin A improves the overall skin health by transforming the immature skin cells to mature epidermal cells. Other than this, it reduces bacterial infections, inflammation, and acne and so on. Some of the ways in which Vitamin A is used for skincare is discussed here:

Five Vitamin A For Skin Care

Reduce Wrinkles

Vitamin A also helps to erase wrinkles from your skin. Vitamin A is rich in retinoid which works to reduce skin wrinkles. Retinoid attaches itself to the skin receptors and peels off the top layer of the skin. This is turn, thickens the skin layers underneath making the skin free of wrinkles and also evens the skin tone.

Along with it, retinoid stimulate a protein named collagen which acts to keep the skin firm and wrinkle free by stimulating genetic activity that is responsible for wrinkle free skin.

Reducesa Inflammation

Vitamin A helps to reduce skin inflammation caused due to bacterial infection. Skin inflammation caused due to bacterial infection often leads to redness and itchiness of skin. Vitamin A is rich in retinoid and retinoic acids and these reduce the bacteria in both the skin surface and the subcutaneous ducts.

This in turn through the response of monocytes and neutrophils, reduces the skin inflammation and thus gives you a healthy and germ free skin. You can either take Vitamin A supplements or directly consume Vitamin A rich food like carrot, broccoli, sweet potato, papaya, cod liver oil and many more.

Moisturize The Skin

Vitamin A is extremely effective if you have a dry skin. Vitamin A acts as an effective antioxidant that nourishes your skin and keeps it healthy by preventing it from being damaged due to over exposure to the sun.

Thus, it prevents the skin from becoming dry and scaly. Vitamin A also encourages the development and maintenance of epithelial cells in the mucus membranes which prevents the skin from going dry.

Cure Acne

Vitamin A is also useful for the treatment of acne. Vitamin a being rich in retinoic acid, acts on the skin to reduce the size and growth, as well as the secretions of the sebaceous glands. This, in turn helps to slowly reduce the size of the acne first and then gradually eliminate them. Vitamin A will not only reduce skin acne, it will also leave your skin smooth, free of acne marks and also prevent the future growth of acne.

Rebuild Skin Tissues

Vitamin A being rich in retinol, retinal, and retinoic acid, helps to rebuild the tissues of the skin. It thus acts as a very effective vitamin to heal scars, wounds, scrapes and other skin damages.

Thus, vitamin A works on skin damages and keeps the skin healthy and young. Moreover, if you are suffering from the skin disease named, psoriasis, you are prescribed retinoid which regulates cell growth and treats the problem.
