Include a variety of whole grains like wheat berries, brown rice, cereals, breads, crackers and pasta to maximize consumption of fiber that is very essential in fighting off breast cancer by reducing estrogen levels in the body.
Consume 3 to 6 servings of high fiber foods to achieve maximum benefits and speedy recovery. Include beans in all recipes like soups, salads and pizza preparation for high boost of fiber content. Also, include nuts that are good fiber source and monounsaturated fats that fight off breast cancer effectively.
Fruits and vegetables are loaded with promising cancer attacking phytochemicals and hence, need to be consumed in high amounts with ‘nine a day’ plan. It helps to develop a biochemical environment within the body that maximizes the ability to resist cancer. Include 3 servings by incorporating it with every meal and six fruit or vegetables snacks as part of regular diet. Keep the portions small and keep eating after 2 hours.
Intake cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower, lycopene rich fruits of papaya, tomatoes and water melon, beta carotene foods of carrots, winter squash and sweet potatoes, citrus fruits, berries and dark green leafy vegetables that include spinach, collards and kale.
Consume 1% of dairy fat as it is enriched with highest amounts of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) that imparts promising anticancer capabilities. Use dairy products from non BST treated cows as then IGF-1 is low in content that is linked to certain cancers.
Consume 1 to 2 servings of whole soy foods like soy milk or tofu as these are full of anticarcinogenic agents like protease inhibitors, saponins, isoflavones and phytates.
Consume 1 to 2 teaspoons of flaxseed as flax is great source of precursors of lignin that are converted inside the body to an antiestrogen that treats or prevent estrogen responsive tumor formation.
Flax is also rich in omega 3 fats that are potent for fighting off breast cancer. Additionally, use spice and herbs like garlic liberally as every spice and herb is rich in phytochemicals that aid in fighting cancer and even add great taste to low fat food recipes.
Prepare half a gallon pitcher of iced green tea and consume it every day as green tea contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) that offers potent anticancer activity and aids in fighting off cancer.
Patients of breast cancer may also consume hot green tea instead of iced tea, but do include intake of minimum of 4 to 6 cups every day for efficient results.
