Abrasions are minor cuts or wounds, burns caused by various reasons. Excessive sunburn can also lead to skin abrasion. The abrasions can cause burning sensation. The skin gets inflamed and redness is most commonly associated with it. Sometimes the cuts or wounds may be invaded by fungus, bacteria and virus.

When infected it may cause infection and aggravates the problem. Before the wound gets infected further, it has to be treated. The abrasions should be thoroughly cleaned before any first aid treatment is given. After cleaning the cuts or wounds have to be dressed. There may be major cuts or minor cuts and each requires a different attention and treatment. Various herbs have different effects and the level of their healing process varies with their effectiveness.

Herbal Remedies For Abrasions

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has extremely powerful and effective healing properties. It has antimicrobial properties. It has cooling effects by reducing inflammation.

Soothing effects are produced when it is generously applied on the skin. The mucilagenous gel like substance has no side effects.

Chickweed

Chickweed assists in recovering wounds. High levels of vitamin C is purported to be present in the chickweed which has soothing effects on the skin.

Vitamin C aids in cell repair and heals damaged tissue. Serious and chronic burns can be treated as it also is known to reduce redness.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil serves a grat purpose in the field of medicine. It has broad spectrum uses as it treats a wide range of health problems. Skin problems, hair issues and other ailments are treated effectively by tea tree oil.

A cotton ball is dipped in the oil and is directly applied on to the abrasion. The abrasion gets cleaned and has pain killing effects. It has antifungal, anti viral and anti microbial properties.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel is a beneficial herb that acts as a pain reliever and reduces itching caused when abrasion generally dries up. It accelerates healing process of abrasions and wounds. The tannins in the witch hazel are important components which constrict the tiny capilleries underneath the skin.

It is very gentle on skin and kills the germs effectively. Its action is very mild thus does not burn the skin when applied. It can be applied generously. It acts as a natural astringent and reduces inflammation.

Chamomile

Chamomile is a popular herb that serves for various ailments. The two species of chamomile are used to treat abrasions. The chamomile oil is applied to the burned area or a chamomile bath can be taken to soak the affected area in for sometime.

Chamomile has great benefits as it promotes healing. It has cooling effects and has anti inflammatory properties. Abrasions, wounds, minor cuts and fungal invasion in to the cuts can be treated with chamomile. Chamomile cream can be applied to area once a day.

Lavender

Lavender oil is a great essential oil that has healing aroma. A lavender bath calms and soothes the wounds and cuts. Pit is a potent antiseptic and kills germs. It is a rubefacient and an analgesic to cure minor wounds.
