5 Best Home Remedies For Foot Fungus

Share

Fungal infections of the feet involve the soles, the toe nails and the area between the toes. These infections are highly contagious and are easily spread from person to person. The fungi thrive in warm and moist places and the infection can be contracted by walking on contaminated floors of public swimming pools, locker rooms and gyms.

The eruption on the skin is very itchy and there is intense burning. The skin becomes dry and scaly and the pain is simply excruciating. Often the skin begins cracking and bleeding occurs. As the infection spreads it reaches the instep of the foot and tiny red blisters appear causing a fiery burning sensation. These blisters can ooze fluids and the infected area feels wet to the touch. It is important to keep your feet dry at all times to constrain the infection.

Effective Home Remedies For Foot Fungus

Garlic

Garlic has potent antibacterial and antifungal properties which combat the fungus most effectively and quickly. Its main fungus fighting compound is ajoene which destroys the fungus at its root and prevents it from recurring.

Crush ten to twelve cloves of garlic and add them to a warm foot bath, soak your feet for twenty minutes then dry them thoroughly with a soft and clean towel.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is very effective in curing all types of fungal and bacterial infections. It also provides immense relief in the itching and pain. This oil has powerful antifungal and ant-inflammatory and antibacterail properties which dry out the blisters rapidly and eradicate the fungi.

Mix some tea tree oil with a little olive oil and dab it all over the foot and between the toes with a cotton ball. Apply regularly two or three times daily. The infection will clear off within no time.

Baking Soda

Baking soda provides immediate relief in the burning and itching. Take one heaped teaspoon of baking soda and mix it with a little water to form a thick paste. Smear the paste all over your foot, soles and in between the toes. Leave the paste to dry and do not remove it.

If it starts flaking off, apply a fresh coat. Baking soda will not only dry out the blisters but it will also keep your feet dry. Regular applications will soon cure the fungal infection.

Amla

To eradicate the infection at its root it is important to strengthen the immune system. If the immune system is weak, it is unable to prevent the overgrowth of the microorganisms in the body. A strong and healthy immune system enables the body to off fight infections and to stay healthy. Amla not only strengthens the immune system but it also removes all the harmful toxins from the body. Drink half a cup of amla juice daily.

Wear Proper Shoes And Socks

Shoes and socks made out of synthetic materials are very harmful for the feet as they do not allow the circulation of air and keep the sweat and moisture trapped within. This forms an ideal environment for the fungus to thrive and flourish. Always wear cotton socks and airy shoes which will keep your feet dry all the time.
