Best Home Remedies For Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis or glomerular nephritis is a disease of the kidneys. The kidneys contain tiny blood vessels known as the glomeruli that perform the work of tiny filters and remove the wastes and toxins from the body. Each kidney has more than one million glomeruli and when these glomeruli get inflamed then glomerulonephritis occurs. The disease damages the kidneys and they are no longer able to eliminate waste and excess fluids from the body.

Glomerulonephritis can happen own its own or it can be caused by underlying diseases like lupus, diabetes, infections and drugs. The onset of the symptoms is sudden and they are fever, nausea, loss of appetite, pallor, vision problems, breathing difficulties, swelling in the hands, face, feet and ankles, vomiting and vision problems. The blood pressure too becomes elevated and sometimes there is pain in the kidneys and excessive fatigue.

Home Remedies For Glomerulonephritis

Amla

Amla is rich in vitamin C and has a huge reserve of poyphenols and antioxidants. It is also rich in tannins which together with the polyphenols exhibit unique free radical scavenging properties.

Amla also supports the urinary system and helps to eliminate the wastes and toxins from the kidneys. Grate two amlas and steep them in a cup of water for ten minutes. Add a teaspoon of honey to the amla and consume this mixture every morning on an empty stomach.

Turmeric

Turmeric if full of powerful healing and curative powers which help to treat and cure a wide range of diseases and disorders. It is very beneficial for glomerulonephritis as it contains a valuable compound known as curcumin which has powerful anti-inflammatory action and which can reduce the inflammation in the kidneys and enhance their function.

Turmeric also removes all the harmful free radicals from the body and detoxifies it. Mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder into a glass of hot milk and drink this, twice daily.

Ginger

Ginger has multitudinous healing and curative powers. It has the most potent antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties which can address all kinds of infections and facilitate the healing process.

Ginger can not only help to eliminate the toxins from the kidneys but it can also reduce the inflammation and restore the function of the kidneys. Boil a cup of water and add one grated teaspoon of ginger to it. Cover the cup and strain the tea after ten minutes and drink three to four cups of it daily.

Green Tea

Green tea has the most powerful antioxidants which scavenge all the free radicals and flush them out of the body. Boil one cup of water and steep one heaped teaspoon of green tea into it for ten minutes. Strain the tea and drink three to four cups of it daily.

Tulsi or Holy Basil

Boil one pan of water and add ten to twelve tulsi leaves to it. Continue boiling on a low heat for two minutes then turn off the heat. After ten minutes strain one cup of the decoction and drink cupfuls of it throughout the day to ease the inflammation and swelling in the kidneys.
