5 Best Home Remedies For Osteoporosis

Share

Osteoporosis is a disease of the bones in which the bone mass decreases and the bone tissues begin to deteriorate. As a result, the bones become very fragile and the risk of fractures increases considerably. Bone is living tissue and existing bone is continuously replaced by new bone.

When the body is unable to form new bone or when too much of the exiting bone is reabsorbed by the body then osteoporosis takes place. Calcium is the chief mineral required for bone formation and if there is insufficient calcium and vitamin D the bones become brittle and easily liable to fractures of the hip, spine, wrist and shoulder.

Osteoporosis can be caused by genetic factors or by low levels of estrogen in women at the time of menopause and low levels of testosterone in men. Certain medical conditions and medicines, smoking and too much of alcohol too can cause osteoporosis. This disease cannot be detected in the early stage as there are no symptoms. Later on, there is pain anywhere in the spine and a stooped posture may also develop.
