Melon and Poppy Seeds
Grind and powder 100 Gms each of melon and poppy seeds and store in an airtight container. Have a teaspoon of this powder with a glass of water every day in the morning. This is said to be an excellent home remedy for high blood pressure.
Garlic
Garlic not only has anti-bacterial properties but is also said to be highly effective in controlling high blood pressure. Take a pod of raw garlic and chew on it slowly after you get up in the morning. If you cannot tolerate the pungent taste, have it with a teaspoon of honey. You can also use it in your curries and gravies though it is best had in its natural form.
Juice of Curry Leaves
Grind 20-30 curry leaves with some water to make a thick juice. Add just a pinch of salt and pepper to this juice and have this juice as soon as you get up in the morning.
Cumin
Cumin is considered to be a natural spice that helps to keep blood pressure in check. Roast and grind some cumin and store it in an airtight container.
Now take half a teaspoon of cumin powder and mix it well with one teaspoon of ginger juice and half a teaspoon of honey. Have this with some water. If you continue this treatment for a few weeks, you will find your reading coming back to normal.
Exercise
Nothing works as brilliantly as exercise to bring down high blood pressure. You can do some simple free hand exercises at home or jog in place for 15 minutes. Try to squeeze in a daily walk. A brisk walk is the best remedy for high blood pressure and other heart ailments.
Mint Leaves
You can dry some mint leaves and grind them to form a smooth powder. Dissolve this powder with water and drink it up the first thing in the morning. This is said to be a good cure for high blood pressure.
Vitamin P
This important vitamin can be found in lemon juice and is said to be vital for maintaining the blood pressure in the arteries. The best thing you can do is to squeeze some lemon juice in a glass of warm water and have this as soon as you get up in the morning. You can also feast on some black grapes as these too have a high content of vitamin P.
Vegetables to the Rescue
Certain vegetables play an important role in keeping the blood pressure in check. These include parsley, carrots, spinach and potato. Incorporate these in your daily diet and see the wonders they do on your blood pressure readings.
Carrot and Spinach Juice
One effective remedy would be to grind carrots and spinach and make a juice out of them. Have the juice once daily. The taste might seem unpalatable at first but it will benefit you greatly and will not only detoxify your body but also keep your blood pressure in check.
Potassium
This important mineral is found in certain fruits like bananas, grapes, oranges and apricots. Eat these fruits in moderate quantities as they are said to have a harmonious effect on the entire circulatory system.
Rice

You can use healthier oils in your cooking like olive oil, canola oil, groundnut oil and safflower oil.
Bitter Gourd
Bitter gourd or ‘karela’ is an excellent vegetable used in the treatment of high blood pressure. Have this vegetable 2-3 times a week. You can also have the juice of bitter gourd, which is helpful in not only controlling blood pressure but also diabetes.
