Warts are one of the common problems faced by both adults and children. They are usually deemed as unpleasant and unwanted growths on the skin. Popular Home Remedies To Remove The Warts
Aloe Vera
The gel of this plant is quite effective in eliminating warts. Soak a cotton ball in the gel obtained from the Aloe Vera plant for about a minute. This cotton ball must be taped to the wart for the entire day. The next morning, use a new one and continue to do this until the wart falls off, which might usually take a couple of days or weeks.
Essential Lemon Oil
This is another popular and common method of removing wart. You can directly apply a drop of this oil on the wart. Repeat the application until the wart disappears.
Caster Oil
Apparently, this is considered to be another effective method of getting rid of wart. You can apply the oil and massage or rub the affected part with the fingers. Continue to do this process 2 times a day, in the morning as well as night for a couple of weeks until the wart disappears (takes about 3 weeks). Make sure, you keep the area covered preferably with a bandage after applying the oil.
Banana Peel
Rub the inside part of the peel on the wart every day for a couple of weeks. The wart should be massaged several times during the day to notice maximum effectiveness.
Garlic
Take a clove of peeled garlic and rub it directly on the area with wart, so that it releases the juice. After this procedure, cover the wart with a band-aid, so that the garlic juice is not rubbed out. The only drawback of using garlic juice is its strong smell, which is not liked by many people.
Therefore, you can use it before the bed time and during the day you can try the other remedies that are less-smelly. Garlic is known for its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties and hence works well in eliminating warts. It ‘burns’ the wart and reduces the size of it day by day.
Tea Tree Oil
This oil is known for its potent antiseptic properties. It kills bacteria and hence a useful method for wart removal. Moreover, the rate of success is quite high. Just apply the tea tree oil over the wart every day until it is completely removed. Due to its effectiveness, it usually does not take many applications.
Pineapple
Squeeze pineapple juice in a bowl and dab a small amount on the warts using a cotton ball. You may experience severe burning sensation, but the discomfort is worth it, as pineapple juice is one of the helpful home remedies for treating warts.
Apple Cider Vinegar
This is used to cure various problems including warts. All you need to do is dab apple cider vinegar directly on the warts. Allow, it to dry for a few minutes. Repeat this procedure daily and in a few days, you will notice that the warts turn black and shortly they fall, leaving behind a small mark, which will eventually disappear. Although, this remedy can be used for all types, it is especially recommended for flat and plantar warts.
Carrots
Mix grated fresh carrot with olive oil, so that you get a thick paste. Apply this paste on the warts twice a day daily until they disappear.
Baking Soda And White Household Vinegar
Sprinkle a layer of baking soda over the wart and drizzle it with vinegar. Repeat this twice a day, in the morning as well as night. Alternatively, you can apply a paste of baking soda mixed with water.
Eggplant
Slice an eggplant (larger than the wart’s size) and place it on the wart. You can use a tape to hold it in place. This is a very good remedy for those with sensitive skin and also for children.
Onions
Use a freshly sliced onion to rub the area with wart twice a day. You can sprinkle some salt on the onion slice and then use it on the wart. Also, you can apply a small amount of lemon juice on the affected part and then place the onion slice.
Turmeric
Curcumin, the compound present in turmeric is known for its anti-viral activity. Perhaps, this is the reason why it works well against warts, as warts are also caused by viruses. Fresh turmeric roots or powdered turmeric can be used. The important thing is to keep it covered after applying because turmeric can cause stains.
Flax-Seed Poultice
A poultice prepared from flax seeds is quite useful in treating warts. To do this, combine flax-seed oil with ground flax-seed and add raw honey to it. Apply this mixture on the area and cover up with a bandage. Repeat this process by applying a fresh poultice daily until the wart is removed.
Epsom Salt
Soaking every day in baths will make the warts softer, which is quite useful as they respond to the treatment and also prevent infection and fights against viruses. Soak in hot (as hot as you can bear because very hot water can burn the skin) bath of water and Epsom salt. Soak until the water becomes lukewarm. Instead of Epsom salt, you can also add baking soda or vinegar.
Other Home Remedies To Treat Warts
Apply coriander leaves paste on the warts for a couple of weeks till they disappear. The juice prepared from the banyan tree’s trunk is useful in treating warts. Also, applying the sour apple juice will free your skin of warts.
The oil that is obtained from the cashew nut shell must be applied on the warts regularly and covered with a bandage. The extract of grapefruit (1-2 drops) is applied on the warts 3 or 4 times a day. Also, coating the warts with camphor oil a couple of times in a day is effective in eliminating warts. Applying the extract of fig stems over the warts is also a good method to treat the problem.
