Load Up on Fibre

Fibre is one of the best weapons for combating constipation. Make sure you eat at least 6 ounces of grains everyday to have stress-free bowel movements. Switch to whole grains. Eat more of oats, barley, nuts, fruits, vegetables and multi-grain bread. These add valuable fibre to your meals and help you to combat constipation effectively. Start your day with fibrous fruit or a whole-wheat vegetable sandwich for a smoother bowel movement.

Drink Water

There is really no substitute for water. Water can cure almost every ailment in the body. Severe cases of constipation respond well to water. As soon as you get up in the morning, make sure you down a huge glass of water. This will help to rectify the constipation and help in a smoother bowel movement. Have warm water throughout the day as this to helps to ease the constipation.

Apple/Pear Therapy

Eat a lot of apples and pears throughout the day. Having enough of apples and pears will ensure that enough fibre goes into your body. Apples and pears are fibrous fruits that not only give you satiety but also ensure that you do not remain constipated. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar helps to ease constipation. Just dissolve a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water and drink it up. You will immediately feel the sensation of a bowel movement.

Cut Back on Refined and Fatty Foods

It is a good idea to go slow on junk foods and fatty foods like burgers, pizzas, pastries, sugary confectionery and refined flour. These foods are tough on the digestive tract and are known to clog the intestines. Eating such foods on a regular basis will make passage of stools difficult. The stools will also be compact and hard. Junk food and fatty foods can also lead to heartburn, acidity and bloating which may actually worsen your condition.

Load Up on Beans

Beans in all their forms and varieties are very good for curing and easing out constipation. Have a variety of beans 3-4 times a week. You will also minimize gassiness if you regularly add beans to your diet.

Lemon Juice with Honey

Start your day with a glass of warm water and squeeze some lemon juice into it. You can also add a teaspoon of honey to your glass of warm water. This water therapy is excellent for rectifying constipation and making you feel better in the long run.

Cut Down on Caffeine

Make sure you cut down on fluids and drinks containing caffeine like coffee, tea and colasas they may increase the severity of your constipation. These do not effectively treat constipation and may also cause acute dehydration.

Eat More of Dried Fruit

Make sure you take in enough of dried fruits like almonds, walnuts, raisins and apricots.
