6 Herbal Remedies For Bed Wetting

Children below the age of five or so usually wet the bed because of the size of their bladder. Their bladders are too small to hold the urine for a longer time, like all through the night. It is very fortunate that this condition is outgrown. Sometimes even older children wet the bed, which is an occasional event, but it normally stops by the time they become teenagers. It is important to know that certain conditions like diabetes and urinary tract infection may also lead to bed-wetting.

The medical term used for this condition is enuresis defined as the act of urinating as a habit on the bed and it is an involuntary act. Bed-wetting is seen sometimes in aged people too. A few herbal treatments for treating bed-wetting are discussed below.

6 Herbal Remedies For Bedwetting

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a super remedy for bedwetting and it is the simplest and easiest one. Give the child a small piece of the cinnamon stick and make the child chew on it thoroughly.

Do this one time every day. Alternatively, you can mix some sugar with some cinnamon powder, use it as a sprinkle on the toast, and give this toast to the child for breakfast.

Gooseberries

Gooseberry also popularly known as amla in India is effective in treating various treatments including bed-wetting. Smash a few gooseberries, and deseed it. Add a tablespoon of honey and a small pinch of turmeric. Give this mix to the child in the morning every day.

You can also mix the crushed gooseberry with some black pepper powder and give it to the child before retiring to bed. Amla can also be taken in a powdered form along with cumin seed powder and sugar candy. This combination can be given to the child 2 times every day. Do this regularly to get beneficial results in the treatment of bedwetting.

Herbal Tea

Certain herbs are very effective when brewed as a combination. Prepare tea with bearberry, horsetail and oak bark. Consume this regularly to notice its benefits for bedwetting issues. Make a mixture with all these herbs in small quantities, add this to water, and allow it to boil.

Once it boils remove from the heat, cover the vessel, and let it remain for a few hours. Give this herbal tea to the child, about half a cup twice every day and one entire cup in the night, just an hour before the child goes to bed.

Saw Palmetto

Sam palmetto is an extract derived from the serenoa repens fruit. It is enriched with fatty acids and phytosterols. This herb is majorly used for treating disorders associated with enlarged prostrates. Saw palmetto is very effective in the treatment of bed wetting disorders, especially in adult males.

Fennel

Fennel is known to be very beneficial in treating bedwetting in adults. It is primarily used to add taste to food. You just have to ground some fennel seeds and brew some tea with it. This preparation is not to be had beyond three weeks without consulting your health care professional.

Other Remedies

Corn silk is a safe and mild herb, which is quite effective in treating bladder and bed-wetting problems. Olive leaf has antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. It is generally used to treat the problems associated with bladder like bladder infections and bed-wetting.
