Home Remedies For Anal Itch

Share

Anal itching is known as pruritus ani or anustitis in medical terms. When the anus becomes severely inflamed, there is intolerable itching, burning sensation and soreness. Anal itching is not a disease in itself but rather a symptom of underlying causes such as hemorrhoids, constipation, diarrhea, bowel infection or cutaneaous lesions. Anal itching is more prevalent in males than in females and males above forty years of age are more prone to it.

The itching can also be exacerbated by external factors such as type of clothing worn, moisture levels and pressure and general rubbing of the anal area which cause excruciating pain. Many people suffer from an itchy bottom but very few people reveal it due to uncommon embarrassment. The itching varies in intensity and it can be paroxysmal or constant. The urge to scratch is always strong and persistent and can occur at anytime of the day or night. Most people experience it after going to the toilet especially if the stools are loose and watery.

Best Remedies For Anal Itch

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the best remedies for anal itching. It has superb healing and soothing powers and its antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial properties can also address any infection and hasten the healing process.

Take some coconut oil and rub it in and around the anus area as frequently as possible. Coconut oil will bring instant relief in the itching and it will also alleviate the burning and soreness.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has an array of medicinal values and has uncommonly soothing and calming properties. Take a fresh aloe vera leaf and after slicing away the thorny edges, slit it in the middle. Rub the gel side in and around the anus for five minutes. Apply the fresh gel every few hours to get rid of the itching and soreness.

Ghee

Ghee has powerful anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which not only soothe and calm the irritated membranes but also reduce the swelling in the inflamed blood vessels and take care of any infection.

Warm some ghee and with your clean index finger rub the ghee in and around the anus for a few minutes. Be sure to wash your hands with soap and water after applying the ghee. Reapply every few hours to get respite from the itching.

Psyllium Husks

Take one tablespoon of psyllium husks with a glass of hot milk if you have constipation or mix one tablespoon of psyllium husks with a cup of curd and consume this mixture twice daily if you have diarrhea.

Psyllium husks will also keep the bowel clean and eliminate all the harmful bacteria with the stool and thus prevent itching in the anus.

Water

It is important to drink ten to twelve glasses of water everyday to flush out all the toxins as well as the germs from the gastrointestinal tract and to get rid of the itching and soreness.

It is equally important to keep clean and wash the anus with normal water after passing stool to keep the anal area free from any traces of feces and bacteria.

  • The most common cause of anal itch (Pruritus Ani) is the continual rubbing and irritation of the sensitive skin with toilet paper. Wet Wipes with their chemicals can also cause it because they remove the bodies natural oils that it needs. It's NOT because people are not clean, in fact it's more like the opposite, they are too clean from too much rubbing. The simple solution is to clean with water, not soap, and the most efficient way to do that is with a Hand Bidet Sprayer. It will go away and stay away.

It is not as many suggest because people are dirty or as others claim(with no evidence whatsoever) because of a vitamin deficiency.
