10 Tips To Cure Dry Hands Naturally

Petroleum Jelly

The dryness in your hands can be particularly severe in the morning and also during the winter months. Petroleum jelly is an inexpensive way to treat the dryness and prevent chapping of the skin. To prevent waking up with dry and wrinkled hands, take generous amounts of petroleum jelly and apply it in your hands and other dry areas.

Massage thoroughly for ten minutes so that the petroleum jelly is absorbed by the skin. You may want to apply an excess coat of petroleum jelly to make sure that the moisture remains on the surface. In the morning, you will wake up with wonderfully soft and shining hands, devoid of dryness and cracks.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is a skin friendly oil that help keep the moisture on the skin from evaporating. This humectant property of olive oil helps people with dry hands. Take some olive oil and massage the skin on your hands with it.

Leave it on for an hour before taking bath. Before you go to bed, apply olive oil on the skin and cover the hands with socks to retain the moisture and to prevent the bed sheet and clothes from absorbing the moisture. In the morning, you will have beautiful and soft hands.

Steaming

Steaming is another way by which you can remove dryness and also dead skin cells and dirt that could have accumulated on the surface of your hands and which could have made the hands dry and cracked. Before steaming, apply petroleum jelly on the hands and use a pot of steaming hot water for applying steam.

You can use a hot water tap as well for this purpose. Allow the water to run over your hands for as much time as you can. This will seal the moisture in your hand and prevent hand dryness.

Aloe Vera

Aloe has natural moisturizing properties and if you have an aloe plant at home, this will help you stay well moisturized. Extract the gel from the aloe plant and apply generously on your dry hands. Leave it on and keep applying fresh coats after you have washed your hands in warm water and patted dry.

Aloe helps in keeping the skin soft and supple and also prevents infections and inflammations on the cracked skin. Being a healing and skin regenerating plant, it will also heal your cracks and infections and make your skin beautiful and soft.

Egg Yolk

Egg yolk is rich in fat and proteins and nutrients that can enhance skin health and beauty and also prevent dryness. Take the yolk of an egg and beat it well. Apply in on your hands and let it stay for half an hour.

Once the yolk turns dry, wash it off with a good herbal soap. Doing this every day will help in keeping the hands soft and free from dryness. Once the dryness is under control, you can reduce the treatment to 2-3 times a week.

Almond Oil Massage

Almond oil is rich in vitamin E, which is a skin rejuvenating, and revitalizing vitamin. Take ample amounts of almond oil and massage your hands with this. This will keep away dryness and also skin infections, as massaging not just imparts moisture to your skin, but also improves the circulation of the blood. Do this before you go to bed as well to prevent dry and cracked hands in the morning.

Sugar And Castor Oil Scrub

Sometimes, excess accumulation of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin will lead to skin dryness, roughness and scales. Proper exfoliation of the skin is essential in such cases so that the excess skin cells can be removed from the surface and the new skin cells from within which are soft and devoid of dryness will be revealed.

Take some sugar and add enough castor oil to keep the granules together. Rub it in your hands for a few minutes until the sugar melts and the mixture turns smooth. Wash off with warm water. This is an excellent way to moisturize your hands and also to remove excess dirt, dead skin cells and stains from your hands as well.

Cornmeal And Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has astringent properties, which help in exfoliating the dead skin cells from your hands. Cornmeal helps in trapping the dirt and also in removing excess oil from the surface. Make a smooth paste with cornmeal, apple cider vinegar and water and rub it in your hands for ten minutes.

Wash with lukewarm water and apply olive oil to retain the moisture and prevent dryness. This can be done at least twice a day and before bedtime to keep the softness of your hands intact.

Tomato, Glycerine And Lemon Juice

Tomatoes and lemon have skin lightening, astringent and exfoliating properties and combining them with glycerine will helps in removing all problems associated with dry hands like dead skin cell accumulation, chapping, scaling etc. Take equal amounts of tomato juice, glycerine and lemon juice and mix well before applying on the hands and rubbing on the skin for at least ten minutes. Doing this every day is a great way to prevent skin dryness and cracks on the hands.

Baking Soda

Another simple abrasive material that can help scour of dirt and grime and remove dead skin cells is baking soda. Take adequate amounts and mix with water. This can be rubbed on your hands and then allowed to remain for fifteen minutes before washing off. Moisturize your hand with olive oil or a herbal cream or lotion after the exfoliation.
