Mucus is a viscous slippery substance that consists of much amount of mucin, inorganic salts, cells, and water, and is secreted as a defensive lubricant coating by the glands and the cells of the mucus membrane. Mucous is present in the region where mucous glands are present. There are many home remedies to get rid of mucus problems. They are as follows.

Ginger And Black Pepper

If you have yellow mucus take one small piece of ginger, 2-4 black pepper and boil this in one glass of water for 2-3 minutes, add it into the glass with strainer and add one tablespoon of honey and drink. Take it for 2-3 times a day to get rid of mucus and also from congestion and cough.

Apple

Prepare a solution by Mixing 1/3 apple cider vinegar with 2/3 cold water. Gargle the solution and bend and stay as long as you can (try to touch your feet), and while you bend, try to touch your tongue to the roof of mouth. Take two spoons of turmeric along with apple cider vinegar in tea for the best cure from mucus.

Honey And Lime

Boil one cup of water and add one tablespoon of honey along with 100% lime juice mix it well until honey is dissolved, drink when it is warm and have it three times a day.

Water And Salt

Take a little amount of salt in warm water and gargle it for five minutes. Along with this you must drink lots of water. Coffee also helps a lot to get rid of mucus. Avoid peanut, butter, chocolate, milk, soft bread and bad water. Taking of hot shower can help you in getting rid of mucus.

Steam is also a good remedy for mucous: boil water pours it into a bowl and let it cool and put a towel on your head and intake the steam. Taking hot liquids like hot soups, hot water, and broth can help to reduce mucus congestion in the throat and will improve immunity.

Onion

Cut onion into small pieces and mix it with honey, take this for every few hours or when you feel more mucus in the throat.

Expectorants

Expectorants can be prepared with onion. This will make people to cough so that mucus would not stay in one place and cause infection. The procedure to prepare is cut the onions into medium-size six pieces. Dump this into two side boiler along with a half-cup of honey.

Fill the lower part with water, cover the boiler, and simmer the syrup to medium-low heat for two hours. Put it into a glass jar with tight lid. Store it in a dark place. Take it in very 2-3 hours.

Ginger And Honey

Take ginger powder with honey and make a thick paste. Consume it three times daily to avoid mucus in the throat.

Milk And Turmeric

Take a half tablespoon of turmeric powder with a half tablespoon of salt into a cup of milk. Drinking this twice daily can reduce the gunk in your throat, and you will get relief from mucus. Avoid smoking and also stay away from secondary smoking.

  • Drinking hot milk and honey also greatly releases mucus and congestion. Dont let the milk boil. Put enough honey to make the milk a light golden color. Drink the milk as hot as you can take it.
