5 Home Remedies For Oily Hair

Share

Oily hair is caused by the excessive secretion of the natural oil called sebum. The sebaceous glands become overactive producing disproportionate amounts of oil which cause the hair to look greasy, stringy, heavy and dirty. Normal amounts of oil protect the hair shafts from breaking and from being damaged and keep the hair soft and lustrous but too much oil can cause several problems.

Excess oil can lead to fungal infections and seborrheic dermatitis. It can also cause scaling and flaking in the scalp. Hormonal changes in the body, excessive use of hair styling products, certain medications, diseases and eating too many fatty and oily foods can lead to oily hair. Application of inexpensive home solutions can keep your hair fresh, light and fluffy and free from excess oil.

Tips To Cure Oily Hair Naturally

Egg Whites

Egg whites are the most easy and convenient solution for oily hair. The egg whites are full of enzymes that demolish bacteria and take care of unnecessary oils.

Take three eggs and separate the whites from the yolks. Blend the whites together and apply on the hair and scalp thoroughly. Keep for half an hour then rinse with cold water. Do this once a week to get back your springy and soft hair.

Borax

Borax is an age old remedy used for all types of hair problems. It is a colorless transparent crystal with antiseptic and cleaning properties. It absorbs all the extra oil from the hair and the scalp and leaves the hair soft and pliant.

Take two heaped tablespoons of borax powder and mix it with three teaspoons of curd. Make a thick paste and apply all over the scalp and hair and massage gently. Keep for half an hour. Rinse with warm water. The curd will eliminate all the impurities from the scalp. Use this twice a week.

Gooseberry

Gooseberry has potent healing and curing powers. It is full of antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Its richness in vitamin C is phenomenal. It nourishes the hair, keeps it healthy, promotes its growth and maintains its shine and luster. It dries up all the unwanted oil and inhibits excessive secretion.

Take four tablespoons of Gooseberry powder and boil it in two litres of water for fifteen minutes. Leave the mixture overnight. In the morning strain the water and wash your hair thoroughly with it. All the dirt together with oil will be removed from the scalp and hair.

Fuller Earth

Fuller Earth  has been in use since times unknown for beauty aids and enhancement. It removes the dead skin from the scalp and absorbs all the extra oil from the hair and the scalp.

Make a paste with Fuller Earth and water. Smear it over the scalp and hair thoroughly and let it dry. Rinse the hair. You will get a clean and cool feel and your hair will look simply great. Use this twice a week.

Lime Juice

Limes are natural cleansers and are very effective in eliminating all grease and oil from the hair. Rub lime juice all over the scalp and keep for twenty minutes. Wash off. Use this twice a week.
