Home Remedies For Seborrheic Dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis is an inflammatory condition that generally affects the scalp. Characterized by dandruff or a flaky scalp, seborrheic dermatitis is due to the overgrowth of yeast that is secreted by the oil glands in the scalp. In a few people, the flaky scalp is also accompanied by the yellow colored pus that forms crusty flakes once it dries.

Some people may experience the effects on the neck and face as well. Although it is not a harmful condition, it can cause discomfort and embarrassment. There are plenty of natural home remedies available to treat this problem, which targets the overgrowth of yeast and stops the symptoms. These remedies are easy to use and inexpensive too. These treatments must be used one or two times a week.

3. Hot Oil Treatment

Apply lukewarm hair oil to your scalp. Cover the hair with a cap and leave for about 10 to 15 minutes either below a hooded dryer otherwise a warm towel. The flakes on your scalp are loosened. With the tip of your fingers gently agitate the scales. This also functions as a pre-poo. Now, use a shampoo that contains salicylic acid, pyrithione zinc or coal tar. This will effectively clean the scalp and leaves it refreshed. However, if seborrheic dermatitis is due to the overproduction of sebum then you need to avoid this method.
