Home Remedies For Stress Incontinence

Share

Stress incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine during coughing, sneezing, laughing and lifting. These activities exert a pressure on the bladder and a small amount of urine leaks from the urethra. This problem is very common among women especially in older women and in women who have given birth to several children.

The muscles in the pelvic floor become weak or the sphincter muscle located at the neck of the bladder dysfunctions due to weakness. This usually happens due to pregnancy and childbirth. Sometimes menopause, surgery and menstruation also can cause a weakness in the muscles around the bladder.

Because of the weakness in the pelvic floor, the bladder shifts its position and prevents the urethra from closing completely. This results in urine escaping during any physical activity. The urine may just trickle out a drop or two or it can be a full stream of urine.

Best Home Remedies For Stress Incontinence

Apple Juice

Apple juice is rich in valuable nutrients which provide vital strength to the bladder as well as the entire body. It strengthens the muscles surrounding the bladder and also soothes an irritated bladder. It keeps the body well hydrated and flushes out all the harmful toxins. Drink a glass of apple juice two or three times daily.

Aloe Vera

This plant has powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which flush out all the harmful free radicals from the urinary tract and maintain the health of the bladder and the urethra.

It also keeps the urinary tract free from infections and neutralizes the acid in the urine. Drink half a cup of aloe vera juice twice daily. In addition to this, you should also increase your water intake so that it will help you in regulating the fullness of your bladder.

Avoid Carbonated Drinks

You should keep away from sodas and other carbonated drinks as these, increase the acidity of the urine which in turn irritates the bladder and triggers a leak. Drink flat water and plenty of fruit juices to keep the bladder free from toxins and to increase the strength of the muscles and pelvic floor. If you do not consume enough liquid then it can lead to dehydration and constipation which can further aggravate the problem.

Almonds

To treat incontinence it is essential to strengthen the pelvic floor and the muscles. Almonds contain vast reserves of nutrients which are very beneficial to the body in every way.

Soak ten to twelve almonds overnight. In the morning, remove the skin and grind them to a fine paste. Mix the paste into a glass of hot milk, add some sugar or honey and drink it every morning.

Eat a Fiber Rich Diet

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables which are rich in dietary fiber and essential minerals and vitamins and bioflavonoids. The bioflavonoids are powerful antioxidants which expel the free radicals from the body and boost immunity. The dietary fiber removes constipation and helps in the incontinence. The nutrients provide added strength to the muscles of the bladder and prevent involuntary leakage of urine.
