Stuffy nose or sinus infection is nasal congestion that occurs due to inflamed blood vessels in the membranes of the lining of the nostrils. When virus infections are inhaled by the nose, the body releases a chemical known as histamine which considerably increases the blood flow to the nasal tissues causing them to distend and swell.
