Throat infection is also known as ‘Pharyngitis’. Throat infection can result from a bacterial or viral infection. Common causes of throat infection include smoking, heavy drinking, minor illness and so on.

Common symptoms of throat infection include coughing, nose blowing, sneezing, bad breath and so on. Throat infection can also lead to swelling in the throat. You can use different home remedies to deal with the problem of throat infection.

Home Remedies for Throat Infection

Turmeric Powder

Turmeric can also be used as a home remedy for reducing throat infection. To use this remedy, you need to prepare a mixture by adding turmeric powder in a cup of warm milk. Intake of this mixture on a daily basis can provide highly effective results. You can also rinse your mouth with water containing turmeric and salt to obtain relief from the symptoms of throat infection.

Ginger

You can mix ginger juice (2 teaspoons) with honey (1 teaspoon) and consume this mixture on a daily basis to cure the pain associated with throat infection. Frequent intake of ginger tea can also provide effective results. Ginger can also be consumed with warm water.

Warm Soup

Regular consumption of warm soup can also help in treating the symptoms of throat infection. Fresh vegetable or chicken soup can provide quick relief from throat irritation and swelling.

Gram Flour

You can also prepare a tonic by mixing roasted gram flour and clarified butter in a glass of warm water. Intake of this mixture 2 times in a day can help in reducing the problem of throat infection.

Salt Water

You can add salt to a glass of warm water and wash your mouth with this mixture 2 – 3 times in a day to cure the symptoms of throat infection.

Garlic

Regular consumption of garlic can also help in treating the problem of throat infection. You can also consume a mixture of grated garlic cloves, yogurt and fresh mint leaves to treat bad breath resulting from throat infection. Raw garlic can also be consumed for curing throat infection.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Rinsing mouth with warm water containing apple cider vinegar can also help in reducing the pain associated with throat infection. It is important to gargle with this mixture two times in a day to obtain the desired results

Baking Soda

You can prepare a mixture by adding baking soda and salt in a cup of lukewarm water. Gargling with this mixture 5 – 6 times in a day can help in the treatment of throat infection.

Cayenne Pepper

You can boil cayenne pepper (1/4th teaspoon) in a cup of water and gargle with this mixture on a daily basis to obtain quick and effective results. Cayenne pepper powder can also be consumed with a cup of tea or coffee to treat throat infection.

Honey

You can consume a mixture of honey, lemon juice and lukewarm water to obtain relief from the pain resulting from throat infection.

Basil Leaves

You can prepare a mixture by boiling basil leaves (5 – 6) in a glass of water. Gargling with this mixture on a daily basis can help in relieving the pain associated with throat infection.
