5 Home Treatments For Acne Scars

Acne is a common skin problem that is faced by everyone at different stages of life. There are various factors responsible for acne, like hormonal changes, individual skin type, menopause and your daily skin care regime. Most of the time acne leaves a scar on your skin after it is cured. Acne scars can make you feel self conscious and you may suffer from an inferiority complex and become public shy.

Acne scars form dark spots on your skin that can become a permanent if you do not follow a proper treatment for them. It is difficult to remove acne scars completely, but you can reduce them to a large extent with various types of  treatments. Everybody cannot afford expensive scar removing treatments like laser treatment or expensive acne scar removing creams, but you can follow some effective and safe home treatments for acne scars and use them regularly to get rid of the problem.

Best Home Treatments For Acne Scars

1. Lemon

Lemon is a natural bleaching agent. It lightens the skin tone considerably and helps to reduce acne scars. Extract the juice of one lemon, dip a cotton ball in it and apply on the affected areas with a gentle pressure. Leave it on till dry. Wash with normal water. Follow this treatment twice a day till you get the desired results.

2. Almond

Almond has rich amounts of Vitamin E and it is a great skin tonic. Almond oil reduces acne scars and it improves skin texture. Take a few drops of almond oil and massage the oil on your face in circular motions with your finger tips. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes, wipe the face with cotton and wash with lukewarm water. Do it once a day, preferably at night.

Soak 5 almonds in water overnight, next morning peel them and grind to make a paste. Add ½ tea spoon milk and ¼ tea spoon rose water to the paste. Apply the paste on acne scars and leave it on till dry. Wash it off with normal water while gently scrubbing the face.

3. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has natural healing properties. It helps to lighten acne scars effectively. You can extract the gel of Aloe Vera from a fresh leaf and apply it on acne scars directly. Wash it off with normal water after 15 minutes.

4. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil helps to lessen acne scars and it also reduces wrinkles and aging lines. Massage your face with warm coconut oil for 2-3 minutes. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Take a steamed towel and spread it on your face, steam your face for 2 minutes. Wipe clean the face with the towel and afterwards wash with normal water.

5. Turmeric

Turmeric is a natural anti septic herb which is easily available in your kitchen. Take equal amounts of turmeric powder, sandalwood powder and neem leaf powder. Add milk to make a smooth paste. Apply it on acne scars and leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash it off with normal water. Follow this treatment for a few weeks to reduce acne scars.
