The strains of the E. coli bacteria live in the gut. These bacteria can gain an entry into the bladder through the urethra by having frequent vaginal sex and then not maintaining proper hygiene. Pregnant women are also more prone to this infection as their urinary tract changes in response to hormones and increased kidney function. Bladder infections can cause fever, severe itching in the vagina, pain and burning during urination and frequent and urgent need to urinate.
The bacteria inflame the walls of the bladder and cause a lot of pain. It is of great consequence to reduce the swelling and flush out the bacteria from the bladder. Lemongrass has potent antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties.
Boil a cup of water and steep three or four blades of lemongrass into it for ten minutes. Strain the tea and drink it three or four times daily. The tea will eliminate all the harmful bacteria from the bladder.
Green tea is a very good alternative remedy for many diseases and ailments. It has potent antioxidant properties which remove the bacteria and other harmful free radicals from bladder as well as the body and activate the immune system to function optimally.
Boil one cup of water and add a teaspoon of green tea to it. After ten minutes strain the tea and drink three to four cups of it daily.
Ginger too has valuable antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which not only help to eradicate the bacteria but also help to reduce the swelling and pain quickly.
Add a teaspoon of grated ginger to a cup of boiling water and simmer on a low heat for a minute. Allow the tea to stand for five minutes then strain it and drink it three times daily.
Make sure your partner is absolutely clean before having sex. You yourself should wash your vagina before and after having sex. Water will flush away any bacteria that may be present and prevent it from entering the urethra and thus infecting the bladder. Also drink a big glass of water before and after sex and always urinate after sex. Any bacteria that may have entered the urinary tract will be instantly flushed away with the urine.
Drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juices to refresh your electrolytes and to keep well hydrated. Do not stay too long without urinating.
The more fluids you drink the more you will urinate and the infection will be easily flushed out of the bladder.
