Share

Bunion is basically a deformity in the bone structure of the large toe. It is an enlargement of a bone or a tissue on the joint of the large toe, which could lead to a painful swelling on the first toe. There are several causes for bunions including wearing a wrong type of shoe especially high heeled or non fitting shoes, inheriting the foot type from one’s parent who has this condition, having flat feet and sometimes having the deformity on the foot since birth.

The symptoms could be pain in the big toe while walking and wearing shoes, a swelling on the outer side of the big toe, redness, numbness and a burning sensation in the toe. Although bunions can cause serious discomfort, they can be healed with a little care and treatment at home itself. Here are some ways to cure bunions.

Tomato can be an effective remedy for bunion. Take a slice of tomato, keep it on the affected area and wrap it with a fine cloth or a handkerchief. Leave the tomato overnight on the affected area.

Doing this every day, in the morning and night will slowly but definitely heal this condition. Iodine can also be mixed with castor oil and applied to the affected area. Continue doing so till the skin gets normal again.

Water Massage

To relieve the pain from the bunion take some warm water and add to it 2tbs of Epsom salt. Now dip your feet in this water for around 15-20 minutes or as long as you feel it warm. Do not continue immersing your feet in the water when it turns to room temperature.

As water can cool down fast, it is better to take water which is slightly more than lukewarm. Doing this regularly will not only reduce the pain but also reduce the inflammatory and the size of the bunion as well.
