How To Cure Dermatitis

Share

Dermatitis also known as eczema is a skin condition in which the skin becomes inflamed, red and swollen and causes unbearable itching. The itching is so intense that you scratch away like crazy and this scratching further inflames the skin and a rash of tiny red bumps appears on the skin. The bumps may fill up with fluid that can later ooze out and form a crust over the bumps.

Though the exact cause is not known, several factors such a dry skin, exposure to harsh chemicals, soaps and detergents can contribute to dermatitis. It can also stem from allergies and certain medications that you are taking. This problem usually begins in childhood and later strikes again when you become an adult. People with a family history of allergies are more liable to suffer from dermatitis.

Cold Compress

Take a soft hand towel and dip it into a bowl of chilled water. Wring out the excess water fold the towel several layers thick and place it on the rash. Dip again into the chilled water as soon as the compress begins to get warm and repeat the process for fifteen minutes.

You can also place the cold compress on weeping blisters. The cold compress will reduce the swelling and itching and will help to dry out the oozing blisters.

Coconut Oil

Often dryness causes the skin to become rough red and itchy. It is therefore necessary to keep the skin well moisturized at all hours. Coconut oil has superb healing and soothing properties. Apply coconut oil all over the skin and rub it well into the skin so that a good amount of it is absorbed by the skin.
