Tendonitis or tendonitis is basically an irritation or inflammation of a tendon which is a thick cord attaching our bones to muscles. These can be very painful. It is caused due to overuse of injuries and can affect many areas like the hips, elbow, knee, Achilles tendon or shoulder. There are a number of methods to treat them one of which includes resting. Resting plays a very important part when we think about curing swollen tendon.

The main reasons that might cause tendonitis include gardening, carpentry, tennis, shovelling, golf, skiing, raking, scrubbing, etc. Achilles tendon problem is also a very serious tendon problem. Achilles tendon is the biggest tendon of our toes that push while we walk or run and make us uncomfortable. Tendon injury is a problem which is common among adults especially people of age 40 or more. As age increases the muscles becomes less elastic and are unable to take stress and tear easily. Few tips by which we can cure tendonitis are mentioned below:-

Various Ways To Cure Tendonitis

Effective Therapy

Often doctors prescribe physical therapy to treat tendon inflammation. This therapy will make the area stronger. There are few exercises which can even help you to cure these painful tendonitis. These exercises benefit a lot and are basically designed to strengthen and stretch the affected muscle tendons. One of the benefiting exercises include eccentric strengthening. The main emphasis of these exercises is contraction of muscles while they are lengthening. This exercise is the best choice for treating chronic tendonitis. Another effective therapy to cure these tendon injures include friction massaging.

This basically involves scrubbing of the fibres of the tendon to stimulate natural tissue repair mechanisms. These are safe and effective in case of tennis elbow, supraspinatus tendonitis and Achilles tendonitis. This involves rubbing of the inflamed tendon back and forth gently. The strokes must be perpendicular the way we strum the guitar strings. Putting too much of pressure is not recommended. Make sure that you do this therapy only when the pain and irritation in the infected area has lowered. You can finish this therapy by doing ice massage for few minutes.

If you are suffering from tendon injuries then lack of resting might increase your pain and swelling. Resting can help you to heal your injured tissues effectively. Strike off high impacting sports from your daily routine till the injured tendon id cured. Do not perform one activity for a long time. Take small breaks to relieve stress. Many anti-inflammatory medicines are easily available in the market to relieve tendonitis pain. These non-steroidal drugs will give you relieve without making you feel stiff. You can try aspirin, Motrin, Celebrex or ibuprofen medicines but make sure that you consult some experts before taking them so that they do not show any negative effects when you consume them.

This medicine is directly injected in the infected area and can show great results. Often this medication is not useful to cure all types of tendonitis. This injection cannot cure Achilles tendonitis in many cases because of the risk of falling-out of the tendon.

Applying Ice

You can even apply ice to treat the swollen area. This will even help you to get rid of the irritating pain due to tendon inflammation. Apply ice for about 10 to 12 minutes several times daily to see the results. You can even go for slush baths with ice or ice massage.

One economical way to do ice massage it to fill a plastic foam cup full of water and then freeze it. You can use this freezed ice cup to treat the swollen area. Make sure that you don’t apply ice directly in the affected area.
