5 Ways To Get Rid Of A Fever Blister

Share

Fever blisters occur due to an infection caused by the herpes virus. This virus which remains in a dormant state inside the body is suddenly activated due to long term exposure to the sun and medical conditions and diseases, stress, excessive fatigue and anxiety which decrease the strength of the immune system and incapacitate it to handle the virus.

Fever blisters appear around the lips and the oral cavity and can also occur in the genital areas. They cause intense pain, burning, severe itching and can leave the skin raw and sore. Fluid accumulates under the infected skin to cushion the tissue underneath and protect it from further damage and to help it to heal quickly.

The infected blisters ooze fluid when they burst open and if someone comes into contact with this fluid can immediately become infected with the virus. It is important to not to share cups, eating utensils and towels with an infected person. If the fever blisters are present in the genital area then all sexual activity should also be stopped.
