How To Get Rid Of Acid Reflux

Share

Acid reflux can cause many direful symptoms such as nausea, bloating, dry cough, loss of appetite and weight, burping and vomiting. A constant burning pain keeps moving from the stomach to the chest or even up to the throat and causes great discomfort. A sour bitter tasting acid also backs up from the stomach into the throat and the mouth. There is a valve at the entrance to the stomach which consists of a ring of muscles known as the lower esophageal sphincter.

This valve closes as soon as the food passes into the stomach from the esophagus but sometimes the valve does not close properly or shuts only partially which allows the acid produced by the stomach to move back into the esophagus. The acid irritates the lining of the esophagus and causes a burning pain. This is known as acid reflux, which is mainly caused by eating heavy and fatty meals, lying down immediately after eating and drinking alcohol and smoking.
