5 Ways To Get Rid Of Acne Scars

Share

Acne scars develop on areas where there have been acne lesions. After the nodules or cysts heal, they leave a scar behind which can be narrow and deep or it can be shallow and darker colored than the skin. People with dark skin tones can notice hyperpigmentation within the scars and people who have fairer skin have red scars. Exposure to the sun can darken the scars and delay the healing process.

The ultraviolet rays stimulate the production of melanocytes and this leads to further discoloration. It is necessary to protect the scars from direct sunlight. Scars are made of collagen which is a protein fiber present in the second layer of the skin. It helps to repair the damaged tissues and heal the skin. But if the collagen is lost due to severe inflammation then the scars become indented. Picking or squeezing the pimples leads to further injury to the skin and leads to discoloration and deep scars.
