5 Ways To Get Rid Of Hyperpigmentation

Share

Hyperpigmentation causes dark spots and patches to appear on the skin. The skin produces the pigment melanin which imparts color to the skin. Sometimes due to sun exposure, genetic factors, certain illnesses, hormonal imbalances and ageing, melanin is produced in excessive quantities in certain areas. This leads to hyperpigmentation or dark spots. People with darker skin tones are at a greater risk of hyperpigmentation then people with a light colored or fair skin.

This condition is fairly common and though not of a serious nature yet it is very distressful especially if the dark spots or patches appear on the face, arms, neck, hands and other visible parts of the body that have been exposed to the sun and are difficult to hide. Use of certain medicines, too much of iron in the body, history of skin inflammation and endocrine diseases can also cause hyperpigmentation.
