Drink tons of water. Drinking a glass of water or juice is an effective and an excellent hangover remedy. Water cleanses the digestive system.
Alcohol causes severe body dehydration, and hence it is suggested to reduce the consumption of alcohol and increase the intake of water as much as possible.
Milk thistle (silymarin) helps in protecting the liver by removing the toxins from it. Recovering alcoholics and frequent drinkers should consume milk thistle daily.
It is advisable to have 70-120 mg of milk thistle three times every day. Consuming milk thistle can help you to reduce the effect of a hangover.
A quick and effective hangover remedy is honey and banana milkshake. Bananas help soothe the stomach, and honey helps to build up depleted sugar levels within the blood.
Bananas are rich sources of magnesium and potassium, which are important electrolytes that are depleted by the consumption of alcohol.
Dandelion root helps relieve stomach aches and constipation. Dandelion has rich sources of antioxidants, which help to repair liver damage caused due to excess consumption of alcohol.
Brew 1-2 tsp of dried root in 1 cup of hot water for 10-15 minutes. Drink this mixture (1 cup) in the morning and also in the evening for better results.

A thiamine (vitamin B-1) deficiency will make it harder for the body to digest the alcohol, and hence consuming these supplements will help in boosting the B-1 level in the body easing alcohol absorption.
Get plenty of rest. After you have had a small snack and rehydrated your body allow your body to rest and detoxify itself. It is very difficult to get normal sleep after you have consumed alcohol.
You may not feel well rested even if you have slept for 8-9 hours continuously, sleep so as long as you want until your body starts feeling better.
